hey im camy and i live in the subtropics...the caribbean and this is my story......
since i can remember ive had the misfortune to have acne...its more like little bumps that form that just wont go away. ive tried endless creams, washes, soaps...nothing seemed to work...ive spent a fortune on products until i found panoxyl 2.5%

i dont knw if anyone is experiencing any of my troubles but, for the first time i found something that really worked...that really really worked. until a few weeks ago, i noticed sheet of bumps that were raised on my skin. at first i thought it was an allergy but i think its a side effect of the panoxyl... the extreme drying of my skin somehow causes this aggressive outbreak of what looks like raised welts on my skin...when i discontinue use of the gel for abt 3-5 days it goes away....what am i doing rong? i wash my face with simple soap twice a day and put the panoxyl on at nite b4 going to bed....it tingles when its drying and has my face tight and dry.....i hate to use moisturizers cause i have oily skin and this makes it worse...what to do!!!! help!!!

just when i thought i had this all fig out..turns out i dont...sigh...i crave smooth skin so badly...you have no idea..............anyone with any info can u give a heads up plz thanks...

using soap dries out your face, try using a moisturising cleanser instead. certain moisturisers (particularly oilatum in my experience) promote acne, so look for oil free moisturisers instead (clean and clear have some good ones i find). hope this helps smile.gif

I think you should always moisturise regardless whatever skin you have.
Moisturiser doesn't promote further oiliness of your face, but I am sure dryness will make you skin think that it needs more oil to keep the skin balanced, as the result, you get oilier!

you should apply moisturiser anyway after using BP, or your skin can be over-irritated! :naughty:

I am using the same BP as you and am experiencing the same side effect.
I guess our skin needs to get used to what BP is doing, so this is what it has to go through for everybody's skin, not just us!!

I agree with the people above saying that we should always put moisturiser on regardless whatever skin we have. This will make your skin more balanced and less drying.

I also agree with you that the PanOxyl 2.5% is working magic on acne!!!it kills all my acne!

If it is the aquagel, it has alcohol in it. As we all know, alcohol is extremely irritating to the skin and can lead to side effects such as the ones you posted. An alternative form of BP that does not contain alcohol should fix you up biggrin.gif

However, I want to point out that the acnegel is the one that is alcohol based and the aquagel which is the one we are talking about right now, is water based. So it would be less irritated to the skin and is more effective than others over the counter in the uk!

I'm about 90% sure the last time I read the ingredients on the aquagel that I saw alcohol on the list.

I've got my box of PanOxyl Antibacterial Acne Aquagel here. It reads --

COMPOSITION: Super fine benzoyl peroxide 2.5% in an aqueous gel base.
Non-medicinal ingredients:
Carbomer 940, polyoxyethylene lauryl ether, imidurea, purified water, sodium hydroxide.

Thank you for the information"
My regimen is pretty much the same as yours, but I still havent found a good jojoba oil to go with my moisturiser yet.
And I am still looking for a good day moisturiser with SPF 15+ in.

Thats weird... I read somewhere that it contains ethanol/alcohol (somewhere online that sells it). It was definitely the aquagel.

Click ingredients tab.

Does the UK government require all pharmaceutical companies to provide a complete list of ingredients? This is odd.
