So ive been dealing with pretty severe blackheads on my nose for years now and I thought the acne medication i was on would help clear it up, but no dice. I cant seem to get them to go away and they are too stubborn to be removed by normal methods (i.e. squeezing or those strips). The whitehead no there im not too worried about, as I get those occasionally and they eventually disappear. I believe this is connected to a few years back when I scrubbed my nose very very hard and i think i permanently damaged it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Heres a pic of what we're dealing with.

This will change the way you look at your nose. Most likely, most of those "blackheads" are actually sebaceous filaments that will be there always. Everyone has them. Read up and stop stressing.
Ps, I'd kill to have your skin. Stop worrying, nobody except you probably notices these small things.

First off, don't stress, your blackhead situation is minor. You have perfect skin everywhere else so cherish that.
I am very fond of Finacea (or any azelaic acid product) because they work similarly to a retinoid without the harsh side effects. A non-prescription remedy would be salicylic acid which is an oil-soluble exfoliator.
Try salicylic acid (aka BHA) and then Finacea; that should work for mild-moderate blackheads.
Hope I helped, good luck!

maybe try tazorac? I also have severe blackheads and it's been working.. I'd say 40% are gone.

What kinda of "acne" medications are you using? Unless they contain salicylic acid or some type of retinoid, it likely won't help your blackheads in the slightest because they are not of bacterial origin like acne is. If you want to get rid of acne, you need to go for salicylic acid (not glycolic acid) as they can actually reach inside the pores to clean it out. You do have to be EXTREMELY diligent and patients with using salicylic acid because they don't clear overnight. It took me almost 1 year to see a complete difference. You can speed up the process by introducing some stronger peels at 5% or 10% but that can be very dangerous if you don't know how to use them properly.
You can also consider a retinoid product as they help to re-construct the pore so that it sheds more smoothly. Blackheads are a result of improper shedding and sebum production, so retinoids should be able to help with that problem.
