Hey guys and girls,

Ive been floating around these forums for a few weeks now, Ive suffered from mildish acne, Just the odd breakouts which completely destroy confidence, I mainly get those pesky under the skin spots, I went to my Doctor 2 weeks ago to hopefully get some kind of treatment, I was put on a 8 week course of oxytetracycline (250mg), Which i have to take 4 tablets daily (1000mg a day), I just thought i'd take the time to write a small log on the process of these tablets, For anyone whos considering them.

Im a 18 year old male, And have suffered with mildish acne since a year ago when it randomilly reared its ugly head haha, I had an extremely clear complextion, But i guess we will all suffer from spots at some point, I tried Over the counter products, And benzoyl Peroxide (What an aweful experience i had with benzoyl), I suggest anyone suffering from acne, Go and see a doctor, i prolonged doing so, And now i have marks on my face from where my acne got quite bad last year.

Anyhow, Here goes smile.gif (I've been writing down the entrys since i started taking them, Heres what i've got so far)

Day 1 : Picked up all 8 boxes of oxytetracycline from the chemists earlier today, Cant wait to hopefully see an improvement, Will start taking them on monday morning.

Day 1 of oxytetracycline : Just taken 4 tablets this morning, I understand that whilst you're on oxytetracycline you cannot drink milk or dairy products, And you have to take them on a empty stomach (best to do this after waking up i guess), And you shouldent eat for a further 1-2 hours to allow the tablets to be absored, Anyhow, the tablets them selves are small round orange coloured, And are easy to swallow, Heres a picture of the tablets,

Day 4 : Well heres my second entry, I've been taking oxytetracycline for 4 days now, and i must say my skin looks healthier already, And im not getting any new spots, This is extrememly quicker then i thought it would be, Im looking forward to when i've finished the course, But Also i've noticed im getting headaches more often (2 in the last 4 days, And i felt quite sick yesturday) But Im not going to moan, Its a small price to pay i guess smile.gif

Day 7 : First week is over !, I must say my skin is looking alot better already, Although i've got a nice hard lump on my forehead :L no escapeing those pesky under the skin spots, This is probly due to hair gel i guess, Im using Clearsil Skin Perfecting wash in the morning, And Clearsil night formulated face wash at night before bed, Its a nice combination, Side effects from oxytetracycline are kicking in mind, Headaches, And feeling sick, But again, I wont moan to much biggrin.gif.

Day 10 : Not much realiy to add, Except my skin is looking alot better (I've also been told by my friends that my complexion looks alot better) So oxytetracycline is defonatly working, The side effects are wearing off which is good, But its a small price to pay to have a clean complexion

Day 12 (15/04/2010) : I'm posting this blog onto Acne.org, And if im honest, My skin is looking good, Im not getting any spots appart from the odd hard lump on my forehead ( Must be to do with my hair spray ), I can see that oxytetracycline is most certainly starting to take effect, I feel alot more confident now, And i have a better outlook on life because i can see an end to acne troubling me, I realiy cannot wait till the last day, But for now, I'll keep on logging my experiences every 3 days or so.

Look Forward to sharing my experiences with acne.org, And hopefully you can enjoy reading them.

I'll post the next set of updates sometime next week smile.gif

But for now, If you have any questions, I'll be more then happy to answer, and help.

Take care everyone.

Hope this works for you. I was on that too, and it helped very good.

I have been on it over a year now though, so i have to visit a dermatologist now, as i came off them, it came back...
May be different for you though!

Wish you all the luck...
