I've rolling, depressed, pitted acne scars on my cheeks since last 3-4 years. Is dermaroller effective for these types of scars?

Please give me your advise/opinions....
I am very interested in the idea of the needling techniques, because results ive seen. Plus im afraid of lasers.
I have V. bad scarring, some rolling, some ice picks, some burn scars. my cheeks are a mess, so ANY improvement would be good.
Most of my skin damage was done via bad laser resurfacing where i was badly burned, about 10 yrs ago. Since then ive had isolagen subscions, (some improvement) and many peels.
My acne is settled, now its my scars im haunted by, im dedicated to improvement.
Like everyone, all i want is smooth skin.smoother..anyway.
So ive been to a clinic, and seen a doctor, here in australia, and she reccomended a series of needling treatments in her clinic, with the medical grade roller, that causes more damage, and needs about a weeks recovery, and a roller i have to buy from her and use at home....
Its actually all very expensive.
Now im seeing alot of people on this forum are rolling themselves, i wonder if the salon treatments are worth it??
Also, I have seen the doctor who invented the clearskin roller, and hers seems a good one to buy for home use.
The one that lasts 12 months.
Has anyone seen real results from needling? either professionally or at home??
i know before & after photos are BS. Ive been in a magazine and on tv showing my face trying to fix scars.
hi adell.
i used the .75 home roller on and off for a few months. i've noticed some improvement (read my post above). but when they say it lasts for a year, that's a bunch of bullcrap. i'd say maybe 2-4 months, then you need a new one. especially if you go over bony parts (jaw, forehead, etc). check out my topic i posted about my roller. if left linez all over my face after a while (i put pics in there too).
my advice would be to YES go to a professional when they do the 1.5mm roller. because, you can do it at home. but it kinda hurts. so, you'll probably not roll as hard as you should. on the other hand, if you have a pro do it, they'll make sure the roller goes down all the way. after they do it, i think you wait 2 weeks, and then do a home rolling daily, with the .75mm needlez. and those .75 rollers, those don't hurt at all. just kinda tingle.
oh ya, don't worry about it ruining your face (like the co2 burned you). since it's just needlez poking you, the little holes close back up pretty quickly. you're just red for a few days. but really, there's no threat of permanent damage. (i think it affects the dermis, the deep layer, where your scarz reside. and pretty much doesn't bother the epidermis, which is the outside skin layer, the layer we see).
Hi,
I saw a really good article on 'how to roll', I used it and no more lines on my face here's a link - *Moderator edit, URL removed - read the board rules. *
I use the .75mm roller with copper peptides and I've been really happy with mine.
Cheers

You still plugging your company?
Every single one of your posts has been a plug for your company.
BTW, that picture on the article is a joke. There's no improvement, it's just lighting and different angle.

Also, I wouldn't buy from that site, or any other sites that make the derma roller to be miracle cure with deliberate false advertising.
The before and after pictures are a joke.
- Hair loss: hair held back in before picture, forward on after picture
- Stretch mark removal around belly button: before picture shows skin pressed together belly button line form, after picture shows normal or stretched skin belly button round form

i hate it when u see the before and after pics, and its sooo obvious that they have manipulated the lighting to be softer inthe after pics. false advertsing! and they prolly use makeup to cover up in the after pics, as opposed to the before

Hi all. I've just started a blog on this site about my experience with the medical roll-cit. I had the procedure done yesterday and now I'm in recovery mode. Check out my blog for a day to day update and also for before and after pics (as soon as I can figure out how to upload them!)

The rollers from dermaroller.de are not $37, no way. They're much more expensive they have created an image, lots of of marketing, costs a lot of money.
I remember when the Environ ones sold for $500, ridiculous!
And why would you pay too much money for just the basic model that does not help with scars and is only good for increasing penetration of skin care products?
There are good quality generics for around that price.

Oh, okay thanks so much tj101 . wait so you don't prefer use of dermarollers at all? If you do,
since they claim that there are a lot of "copiers" out there, what brand would you recommend?
well im guessing that the increasing penetration of skin care products would help with the scarring? i have only little scarring in my cheeks with a few "pits" and the dermaroller "claimed" to help!

I like the stamp to treat areas with bone directly under the skin (cheek bone, temple area, forehead).
For the other places on the face I like the narrower rollers, normally have 3 rows of needles.
I personally do not like to using a roller to apply skin care products and increase their penetration. I get an uncomfortable stinging from the products applied and I can't deal with that.
If you ask around the forum, most people will tell you you can't improve pitted scars with topical products.
About the others being "copiers", don't really know and don't care. To me it seems it's more like marketing, image is everything. This simple needling device is not rocket science.
Dr. Fernandes was the other supposed inventor, who knows the truth.
They certainly did not invent needling or needling scars for that matter.
The word dermaroller has been used for a long time as a generic name for a device consisting of a handle and roller with spikes for blood circulation or something.
They did a good marketing job and bringing needling to the mainstream, for that they get some credit, though most people found about scar needling from this forum.

if its not true to cure the scars.. why they waste their time to treat people? i belived in this product
even your not putting any cream the the skin will heal from its self, absorving the product is secondary, what ever other people say negative about dermaroller i dont believe in them.
i have post my first inquiries here no 1 got reply.

No matter what roller you choose, the actual results will differ very little between one brand and the next. At the end of the day, all rollers are made up of the same basic components - a handle, a barrel and some needles.
There is a difference in quality of course, but the actual process works exactly the same from the most expensive to the cheapest.
More expensive rollers will tend to have either narrower, better constructed needles or needle which last longer.
Better quality needles will reduce the discomfort of rolling as they penetrate the skin more accurately create less tension when entering the upper layers of skin. Therefore, it is an important consideration when choosing a model for use on the face, as this is far more sensitive than say the stomach or thighs which are often rolled when trying to remove stretch marks for example.
Professional salon based treatments are of course better - they involve numbing the skin, apply great after care products and have a very much more aggressive approach to the treatment. They also cost a huge amount. Rolling at home may take longer, may not always have the same overall results and yes, can be uncomfortable. But it costs a fraction of the amount and is an affordable way for most people to try skin needling.
It's about choice, and being aware of the facts before buying which is important. It doesn't work for 100% of people, 100% of the time. But it does work for a lot of people a lot of the time.
I'm not sure how to post links on here so I apologize. But the guys who helped me were at *Moderator edit, URL removed - read the board rules. * Very nice and very informative. I've been in touch with them several times and they've never tried to force me into buying anything or even into choosing one brand over another.
I've made my choice and I'm going to take some pictures to make my own before and after which I'll share once I've gotten going.

Not necessarily true. Especially not from the site you mentioned.
I've purchased lots of needling products including all the brands listed on the site you mentioned.
Some of the ones sold on that site are way overpriced. I could get them for about at least half their price elsewhere.
Something that bothers me is that they're listing the "MTS Roller". I doubt it's the true "MTS" brand because like some other very expensive rollers, this is only sold to doctors to keep a tight control on pricing.
Looking closer at their picture you can see it's a copy "MT" and not real "MTS"
