Pretty sure weak stomach acid is a problem for me. I got some of those HCL tablets to help me with my candida-cleanse, but have only been taking them for a few days now. I started with one after a meal, and didn't feel any burning. Now I've got it up to three, and feel a very slight burning sensation.

Why are you taking 3 at a time? They can cause stomach ulcers if you take too much. I use dgiestive enzymes, but only in small amounts, and only if I consume a high fat or high protein meal. The warning on the label says not to take them if the meal consists only of fruits and/or veggies.

My bottle doesn't have that warning, so thank you for posting it. I don't use it when I eat fruit, but I do use it for pasta dishes that contain nuts and other proteins. If the dish contains any source of protein (nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, soy sauce...), I MUST use it or I'll break out. It has been a miracle treatment.

When I take higher quantities (I think I have VERY weak stomach acid because I can take up to 5 without burning), my pores close and tighten completely within hours. Strange.

I got Solaray brand HCL with Pepsin but I didn't notice until now it's not Betaine. Think I will still get the same results?

You can certainly try it. I read that it is important to have the Pepsin because that is what breaks down the proteins. Tell us your results in one week. smile.gif

No, not everyone has that. A week after I began taking HCl, it went away. I used to have a REALLY bad problem with it. Living with it was terribly gross, annoying and bothersome. I'm so thankful for HCl.

I don't think so. Although garlic does burn, it doesn't have the chemical structure to break down protein nor does it stimulate your stomach to produce more HCl.

I was led to believe you're supposed to start with one after a meal and build it up slowly until you feel the burning sensation in your stomach. I found this info on the guide that I believe you yourself recommended in your candida thread.

418 people have viewed this thread but only 17 have taken the poll. Hmm.

I have been using HCl about 10 days now and am SO satisfied with the results. It is like I am on tetracycline or the B5 treatment.

I found this thread written by someone else who was also cleared by HCl and it seems that it helped quite a few others:

Is it a permanent thing (does stomach acid regain its correct ph balance eventually) or can we look forward to taking them every day?

As digestion improves, the amount of HCl supplements can be lowered until finally a person wouldn't require them any longer.

With HCl, my acne stopped in 3 days (just as fast as the B5 treatment). But it took a week to completely notice the difference.

I expect it will take a few months to realistically get my digestive system to work properly. So I expect to take HCl with each protein-heavy meal for 2-3 months. But it is not bothersome at all because my skin cleared up so fast. It is more of a pleasure. wink.gif

Did you have a purging period? Like where you broke out a lot before getting better?

Nope. The oil just stopped. The infections took a few more days to go away.

For me, it was like taking the B5 treatment. By day 3, results were noticeable, but it definite that it was working after 7 days.

I started taking mine exactly three days ago but I went off of my strict diet for a little while and ate some things I definitely shouldn't have. So, I'm hoping my body is pushing out all of the crap I ate and after that I will be better.

Edit: I am also trying to get rid of candida, which I believe I have. So I may be going through a purging period from this.

Low stomach acid can cause candida if left untreated for a long time.

I thought our bodies aren't alkaline enough these days. Does this even have anything to do with strictly stomach acid? I have been working on alkalizing my body by taking montmorillonite clay daily for a few months, and it really seems to have done my skin a nice favor with less inflammation and acne. I remember drinking some ACV last time I got sick, and in the next few days I broke out like I hadn't in months. I don't know if this was because of the acidity or if it was some kind of a die off effect, but I have been staying away from ACV since then.

My question is what is causing this? How can you get to point where you don't need hcl or any other herbs or supplements (cured the underlying problem)?
