I eat nothing but good-for-you, anti-inflammatory, organic, gluten-free food and wash with a mild, all-natural cleanser with a few drops of tea tree oil and jojoba oil and use a clay mask every other day and I'M STILL OILY AS HELL AND BREAK OUT.
I'm TIRED OF THIS and am getting close to ENDING IT ALL.

You sound like you have almost everything right, but are you stressed? And how much are you sleeping at night? Do you sleep well? How much do you exercise daily?

Diet and topicals only do so much. Maybe it's time to revamp your mind and lifestyle smile.gif

Never give up. smile.gif

I used to use this Tea Tree Oil cleanser and it left a film on my face.

Try washing with water only in the morning, and a gentle cleanser at night? smile.gif

Seems to help with the oil.

Too dry after washing = more oil being produced

You aren't alone bud. I've had it for about 13 years. I, too, noticed no improvement in oil or breakouts when i did the whole diet thing. I know it works for some, but it actually made things worse for me. Plus on top of it i was miserable cause i couldn't eat my favorite foods, i lost too much weight, and i couldn't throw down a few beers when i wanted. BP has always kept things in check for me but never perfect. Definitely give it a try if you haven't already.

I'm sorry I didn't think of what others are going through.. It's true that MANY others have been dealing with this for longer than I have... It just gets so frustrating...
Thanks for your possitive vibes.

I too have lost far too much weight, and MISS eating "normal" foods..... AND I MISS BEER sad.gif

I'll try washing with only water in the morning and then cleanser at night on my next 2 days off... Hope I see a slight improvement in oil production within that short amount of time. I don't want to go to work and be caught with SUPER OILY skin from not washing in the AM.

Thanks everything.
You stay possitive, I'll stay possitive.

Cleansing with a 5% Panoxyl bar was the savior for me. It's really drying but it really, really works well. It'll zap any existing acne into nothing and will penetrate deep down to destroy all of that skin-deep bacteria. In conjunction I do Dan's regimen at night. To prevent dryness I need a full pump of moisturizer with around 8 drops of Jojoba oil.

Firstly, hello smile.gif

Secondly, I'd typed out a history of my 6 year fight with acne via diet (basically vegan, not just for acne reasons)to provide credibility for the 'moral of my story' (below), then went for a smoke and the battery on my laptop died.. bwahah eusa_wall.gif

Anyway, yes acne sucks, and yes, it will still be there the next time that you look in the mirror and the time after next. Like everyone struggling with this for so long, I've tried a lot of approaches systematically, both separately and cumulatively, all the while maintaining a strict, healthy diet. I do not cheat, and I do not give in to craving. My acne is not going away any time soon. There were hardly tangible results for me with a strict healthy diet(in terms of acne that is). The ratio of effort to result was not even close to proportionate(keep in mind this is a 6 year timeframe, and my diet was good even before I'd stopped consuming meat, gluten, gelatin, brick cheeses...). I was very hard on myself and would constantly be disappointed over the lack of results. The bad days were awful, and the good days were still not nearly good enough.

I can attest with the other members here that positivity and reducing stress is crucial. A healthy body is great. A healthy mind is equally important. The quality of your life will increase substantially if you choose to be happy.

Respect yourself. Encourage yourself, do not put yourself down. Take control of your thoughts, and learn how to feel good on your worst days. Take your mind off what's bothering you by working on other things when you're alone. Just don't give up. Your acne will improve for it. For me, choosing to be happy helped when nothing else could.

P.S.
As for the alcohol, what's wrong with a few light beers every couple of weeks? Generally, I will get some zits whether or not I drink (I don't drink very much ever...anymore smile.gif ).

I replied this on several different posts: I also tried a lot of antibiotics: doxycycline, erythromycin, Bactrim, clindamycin (oral), penicillin, amoxicillin, and currently ciprofloxacin. Erythromycin and clindamycin didn't work at all for my acne. I think it's because those are most effective against gram-negative bacteria or gram positive, I can't remember which one. All the other antibiotics are effective on both the gram type bacteria. The derms suggested accutane many times. I had reasons, other than side effects, why I didn't want to take it. I left that hospital and went somewhere else, that's where i got the cipro. It isn't the only thing i got, though. Acne is mainly caused by hormone imbalances. Your body is has wayy too much testosterone, and is telling your body to produce all kinds of oil. That oil clogs your pores and traps the bacteria, forming acne. Antiandrogens are used to control the testosterone level. So the doctor also decided to put me on spironolactone "spiro". This is proven to treat server acne, and get rid of all the excess oil. Many people go on this for an acne medication. Some also get a birth control pill to improve the effectiveness. It takes anywhere from 1-3 months to start clearing acne. It only takes 1-2 weeks for all the oil to stop being produced. I was able to go 12 hours without washing my face; no oil. Usually I have so much oil, I have to wash it every couple hours. I read, I believe on this site, this girl was on antibiotics, and accutane. The accutane stoped working after a while, so she went on this and stayed clear. Go to google and type Spironolactone for acne, read the reviews. I would bring this up to your derm. You also want a healthy immune system. Take a multivitamin, and zinc 50 mg capsules (1 or twice daily). If you have scars, take a shower at night. After the shower, break a zinc capsule open, pour the powder on your finger tips, use your other hand to sprinkle water on the powder, rub it in untill it's like a liquid, and rub it on your face. Leave that on over night, and you'll be good. Zinc is amazing. I think give zinc and spiro a shot. After 3-4 months if you still have acne, may God have mercy on your soul. Good luck to you and enjoy your life.

it's good that u are taking care of your diet..maybe you should try switching your topical products, perhaps they aren't sutiable for your case. i tried on ten different products before i settle for what im using now. i also finally gave in, and went to see a derm. that helped me a lot too..
just to share with you some of my experiences, my derm told me that i have uber sensitive acne skin. i was advised to change my pillow case at least once in every 3 or 4 days to avoid bacteria contact. i washed my face with luke warm, clean, drinking water every day. i used a soft sponge to wash my face. basically, it was to prevent contact with bacteria also because my acne was quite severe.

but if i were you, id go and see a derm first. smile.gif

I know how you feel, I think a lot of us have spent thousands of dollars on the "best" treatments. I have been battling since I was 12. I even bought the zeno when it first came out and bought a cartridge almost every week (which costs 25) and i did this for about a whole college semester. Although it did help eliminate a lot of the acne i had and helped me get down to a small fraction of acne, I still had acne. I kept coming here and switching out products, using products that don't have bad ingredients. over the past 3 and half years i bought the products people recommended and said worked for them. And then I came back here again and noticed the videos that Dan posted and came to a revelation. I was never using these products right. I have to say the acne.org regimen and his videos on how to do each step and following these steps has really transformed my skin. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and iam 100% clear. smile.gif Anyways this is me just trying to convince everyone to switch to this regimen, b/c it is so cheap and so simple. I was spending all this money, thinking that expensive products will work, but if you see what I use, it is very cheap.

Anyways, to help with your problem I thought i would make some suggestions. I don't know what brand of all-natural cleanser you are using, but if you are using one that forms a good lather then i would stick with it.

Tea tree oil is great, but from my experience it never fully helped and really drying

"Tea Tree Oil has some interesting research demonstrating it to be an effective antimicrobial agent. But when compared with benzoyl peroxide, a 5% concentration is necessary to have an efficacy similar to that of 5% benzoyl peroxide (Source: The Medical Journal of Australia, October 1990, pages 455-458). That sounds even but the problem is that there are no skin-care products being sold that contain an effective amount of tea tree oil. The highest concentration of tea tree oil I've ever seen in a product is less than 0.5%, which makes it ineffective for treating acne. Pure tea tree oil is typically a 3% concentration diluted in a carrier oil, so even that isn't strong enough"
http://www.cosmeticscop.com/anti-acne-2009...mp;v=3aa2060240

Jojoba oil is good, so nothing bad as long as you are using it correctly

Using a clay mask every other is super drying!! You are making your skin so dry, that your skin is reacting by producing more oils, therefore producing more pimples and oily skin.

Anyways, that is all i have to say, sorry for the long read, but i really recommend the regimen. If you do decide to use it, then let us know so we can help guide you, to ensure you do it correctly.
