Recently, I've had a really bad breakout that I cleared eventually with daily Manuka Honey (UMF 16+) masks and cinnamon. However, it left noticeable scars on both of my cheeks.

I've read many online sources suggesting that manuka honey can also be an effective treatment acne scarring. Has anyone had any successful past experiences? Should I continue applying the honey onto my face or go for other treatment options?

Alternative such as lasers are not an option since I'm still 16 with active acne.

Eagerly awaiting replies smile.gif

Seems like you were interfering with the skin healing, and that is what caused the scars, so maybe avoiding using it could help. You can't really do much when you have active acne.

But as far as treatments go I guess DeepFX laser could help, but no way of knowing without knowing how your scars look like. It's only a scar if it has an indentation/depression of the skin, otherwise it's just red marks and they eventually fade on their own. Don't play around with them too much tho.

And no, if you have a hole in your face, no honey will make the missing skin grow back, you have to turn to Lasers, dermabrasion, subcision etc.

I think many cosmetic websites use the term "acne scars" incorrectly. Unless they specifically say indented or pitted acne scars, I always assume they are really referring to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (also known as "red marks") rather than actual scars.

Since you still have active acne, your treatment options are limited. But since you say this breakout was recent, it's possible that the scars will heal themselves. Scars can change and mature for up to a year, so you may not have to worry about it.
