Hello,

I just started Dan's regime last night after reading his regime and other people's success stories: I am convinced that this is the ultimate way to get clearer skin (I have used everything before sad.gif ..)

I have been having acne problem for three years now, and I am almost 21..I really don't even know when my skin will be beautiful and smooth like it used to be..but I hope this regime will help me to get there or at least help me to get close to it...

I have really bumpy white heads around my face and a lot on my forehead. I don't think it is severe, but it is definitely noticeable and it doesn't look good.

My routine:

AM:
-Baremineral's Rare Minerals facial cleanser (powder form, activate with water)
-BP (Dan's 2.5%)
-Murad SPF 30 oil free sunblock ( I am super oily) with jojoba oil

PM
-BE cleanser (same as above)
-BP
-Baremineral's Rare Mineral facial moisturizer with two drops of jojoba oil!

-along with daily multi-vitamins: E, fish oil, multi, calcium.

I am glad that I have found this site and I am glad to have found so many people that I could share my experiences with.

Good luck to me,

Night! eusa_dance.gif

Day 3:

I think the whiteheads around my face aren't that noticeable so far. my face is not flared up like it should be around this time of the "month" ...and I am honestly really happy with my progress so far..

the progress isn't THAT dramatic..but I am only on day 3, but I would say that it is working. I do still feel the bumpiness around my face because of whiteheads when I wash my face. I really hate the feeling that my face isn't smooth..ughh

I have been pulling my hair up because I am afraid that hair touching my face could cause more breakout because it usually does.

oh, I have gotten new breakouts since I got on this regime though: three little bumps around my cheek, I think it is because my cheeks are really sensitive to BP , but hopefully it will change soon.

My skin does feel dry and...I think it looks dry too even though I apply abnormal amount of face lotion.

Anyways..we will see in a week if this all works. I ordered Dan's AHA treatment, Also I am about to order his BP online because it is not economically efficient to spend 7 dollars for a small tube that only lasts 2 weeks.

The 10% is way drying. I started with that concentration initially=) it made my skin so red but made all the active comedones dry. I shifted to 2.5%, best concentration for twice a day application. 2.5% is still drying but the moisturizer takes good care of that. On my 13th day, good results so far. I went out to dinner for the past few days, my first in the last 5 months=D..

Goodluck to you, hoping to read your success story soon.=)

I totally agree that 10% is too harsh for me, but I just started his regime and that's the only thing that I have in my house. I am almost done with this tube (small one OTC stuff) and waiting for Dan's 2.5% to come in the mail: By the way, are you currently using the BP from his website?

I am so glad to hear that you are going out and enjoying life! There is NO reason why we shouldn't all enjoy life to the fullest extent. Acne really made me appreciative and accepting for who I really am. I used to complaint that my face is really oily and how my blackheads around my nose are unbearable...UNTIL one day..I started to get those whiteheads and broke out like hell. Looking back, I would do anything to just get that kind of skin again, and I realized that oiliness and those blackheads aren't even big deals to me now. ugh, such is life.

Thanks for your reply and I wish the best of luck with your regime! Keep me updated! smile.gif

Nope, am not using dan's BP but one thing BP's have in common is they're all BP..=) They just have to stick with the concentration. Am using Stiefel's (panoxyl kind).. Both the initial 10% and 2.5 % concentrations.

My face really dried (extremely) at first because the moisturizer i am using has an active salicylic ingredient along with the 10%. So my result was a burnt face=D.. but 4-5 days, the old skin peeled off, and it took some of the redness from my previous scars. So, Yay for that!!=)

I did some base photos (the before and after) and the 13 days showed significant improvement. Sometime, i'll put them here soon after 2 months.

I've infused a blemish lightening night lotion in my regimen, and works well with my BP too.

Keep me posted.=) Goodluck, goodluck, goodluck=)

PS: adding you as a friend

I was at the drug store and couldn't find a BP that's big enough and cost efficient enough to purchase: even though his 8 oz is 21 dollars after tax, but it is cheaper than the small tubs from clean and clears (1 oz at price of 7 bucks) . another thing that I don't like about the OTC stuff is that: it forms a white paste after it dries...hopefully, like Dan described about his product: it won't do that.

I also have been taking pictures to show progresses. Hopefully I will learn how to navigate this site to upload a full album...

Can't wait to see your progresses soon!!!

Day 4!

So today my skin was kind of dry but not red. I have noticed some improvement overall in areas that I have been getting a lot of whiteheads but now it is almost gone.

When I washed my face at night, my skin felt a lot more smooth than it did last night especially around my face. However, the drawback is that I am getting a few more pimples--I think it is because my acne is the closed comedone kind and it is hard to pop those, also they never go away!!! anyways, I think since I have been on this regime, the BP probably irritated my skin. the negative reaction is sooo small though.

One thing that I don't like is when my skin stings after I apply lotion on top of BP.

Anyways, I am very hopefully that this regime will definitely help my skin.

I am almost out of my face lotion, is there a good oil free brand that anyone could suggest to me please?

Hey there, I see we started on the same day! smile.gif The lotion stings me a lot when I apply it too, so I have to make sure I apply it VERY VERY gentley, it really does help with the burning!
Good luck!

Day 6

So...I have two new pimples that just came out yesterday!! And new pimples from previous days are gone now...it is weird that I would get one new pimple each day since I've been on the regime. However, it will go away for sure. anyone else with similar problem?

I got Dan's AHA treatment gel. I have been using it on top of BP on certain areas that have more severe whiteheads and dark spots. Oh, speaking of dark spots...I know the BP has been working because where I used to get whiteheads on my cheeks, those whiteheads are gone now but have left brown spots...I get those when I pop pimples, it takes about two-four weeks to go away. Hopefully AHA could speed up the exfoliation process and help my skin to be more even toned.

When I wash my face right now, it is not as bumpy as it used to be! This has been the first time in months that I start to feel like I am feeling my skin..

The area around my eyes are really dry due to the fact that I sometimes rub lotion with BP close to my eye areas. it is flaky around my eyes!!

Waiting for Dan's BP to come in!

Day 7!

I have been taking several vitamins daily as well along with the regime : Fish oil, E, multi, C, and calcium.
Dan's BP came in the mail today, and I am going to start using his because it is less irritating.

I have also popped the few pimples that came out since I started the regime. it left a few red marks on my forehead. I have also popped a few whiteheads around my forehead, it is a lot easier to get a whitehead out than a pimple..and less painful too.

whiteheads around my cheeks are practically invisible now, but I could still feel the minor bumpiness when i wash my face. I hope my face will become really smooth soon.

ONE huge success so far is that my blackheads are almost GONE! I have had blackheads around my nose since I was ...10 yrs old! I am 21! so my pores are huge around my noses ( in my opinion, of course, no one has commented on that, so I highly doubt it is as severe) But, I have been using Dan's AHA gel on top of my nose, it has decreased the appearance of blackheads and also, the skin around my nose is super smooth (only smooth part I could feel on my face )

so far, since I popped all those pimples, I am pimple free...not whiteheads free..but I am still waiting for more improvements.

DAN'S REGIME REALLY WORKS.

I have super oily skin, so I won't use his jojoba oil at all..but if you have oily skin, buy Baremineral's purely nourishing moisturizer, it contains jojoba oil, and it is all natural and non-irritant--also, it is easily absorbed. I am currently buying my second bottle. it is the perfect moisturizer for my skin. all other moisturizers make me super oily (even if they are oil-free). buy it online, in store, the big bottle is $ 32: it lasts for a long time, but it is not cheap; however, it is one thing I will never hesitate to splurge on.

I just want to point out that you really aren't supposed to be using the AHA until your skin's had a chance to adjust to the full recommended amount of BP.

Do you know how long I need to use BP to get to the full amount? I use AHA mostly on areas that I do not apply BP, which is around my nose.

Still Day 7!

I would like to add to today's journal entry:

Things that I realized today--I feel great that I could share my stories with so many people that are going through the same problem: so I thank you so much for reading my entries and voicing your opinions- it means a lot to get supports from people.

Anyways, I realized that I stopped using my fingers to apply BP, I use Q-tips instead: any differences? I just feel cleaner using Q-tips..Plus, I can't be gentle when i use my fingers...I re-read Dan's steps in his Regime: I realized that I started this regime using a lot of BP and also a higher dosage of BP (10% vs 2.5%) ..when I apply BP , it dries too quickly, so I have to constantly get more to cover enough areas.

Alright, one more thing-- whiteheads around my cheeks are less bumpy than this morning...it is hard to believe that within a day I could get so much improvements.

I am so hopeful right now..smile.gif

Me and you are exactly the same, i use to only have whiteheads and a few tiny blemishes and back then i would freak out, now that i experience more severe acne i feel like i would kill just to have my old skin with whiteheads back, but hopefully i would have a more clearer skin in the future smile.gif

Generally, it should take about a month to work up the the full amount.

Day 8..

Today was a LOOONG LOOONG day. I was up until 3 am doing a project that was due today, and since I haven't drank coffee in forever--I had two cups last night and it kept me up alllll night. Then this morning I had to wake up super early to go to school.

I didn't even have time to wash my face..but I did brush my teeth. I am not that gross.

I noticed that there is one pimple coming out on top of my forehead...it looks kind of big and it is strange how a pimple could develop over such a short time. I am not even sure if it is b/c of lack of sleep or BP that is causing this. So this one doesn't really count.

Wel, it looks like I would be swamped with work for two weeks straight until thanksgiving break. So let's pray that my skin doesn't react to severe sleep deprivation for the next two weeks and over dosage of caffeine intakes. (what a great combo for acne..yeay sad.gif ...)

I washed my face today, and it was not bad...not completely smooth but it wasn't bumpy like usual.
Oh, my skin looked really good when I woke up this morning: not oily or red...unfortunately, I wasn't able to do my AM regime.

If I'm being honest, after reading your log, it seems like you may actually be doing your face more harm than good. Though it's already been stated, using 10% bp is a terrible idea and is only going to negatively affect you. Try to keep your regimen simple. I understand people wear makeup but when beginning this regimen it's probably the worst thing you can do for yourself.

Avoid using makeup. Cleanse face with a gentle cleanser (cetaphil gentle skin cleanser or pupose as you can find these in any drug store and they are very mild and effective), find a 2.5% BP treatment (if you don't have Dan's BP yet I'd recommend neutrogena's on the spot) and then moisturize with another simple/minimal moisturizer. That's all you should be using if you're wanting to actually start this regimen correctly. Cut out unnecessary products like AHA and other exfoliators until your skin is ready for it. This should take a couple months. You have to do this regimen every morning and night and skipping will only set you back.

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit harsh here but so many people make the mistake of beginning this regimen incorrectly and they don't get the results they want. Keep things very minimal as your skin is basically adjusting to everything you're doing to it. Be as gentle as possible. Once again, sorry if I'm coming off as negative, I just want to see people succeed when they attempt this regimen. Best of luck.

NO, I completely appreciate your honesty! This is the reason why I keep up with writing this journal entry, so other people who have been through similar situations could let me know how to make my regime better...

Okay, I have a confession to make--I wash my face with two different face washes at night because I hate to feel dirty. I would use a gentle Bare Mineral wash (it is so gentle...perhaps too gentle) after a exfoliation wash (this wash contains peppermint; I read that peppermint is not good for acne prone skin, have you heard/read of the same thing before?) ...is this completely bad for me? I have super oily skin, and I can't find a good face wash to make me feel clean!

I have Dan's 2.5 BP, and trust me I wouldn't want cause more harm to my skin. I only used AHA twice on top of BP before, but I have stopped and only used it for blackheads around my nose where I don't put BP.

well, I don't put any make up on my face and my hair is not touching my face during the day...so I don't worry about those things.

Thanks again for your inputs, let me know what you think!

I wouldn't use different cleansers on a daily basis, if at all. Like I said, you'll want to keep things very simply and minimal. Stick with one cleanser as one or the other may be causing you to break out and you'd have to narrow it down to which one and that takes more time. I would try and avoid the peppermint though I'm not entirely sure of it's effect on acne-prone skin but it's best to be safe. As for addressing oily skin, in my own experiences the only effective way to "reduce" sebum production is a healthy diet and exercise. Try and avoid all fast foods. Do not touch your face or over wash your face. Over-washing will strip the skin of its natural oils and cause it to overproduce.
