Hey everyone,

I have heard different opinions and want to know the truth-- how long does Accutane stay in your system after you finish? Someone said two months?

Cuz I have been finished Accutane for not quite 3 weeks, but was on a high dose (80mg) for my moderate (but irritated/sore) acne and for my body weight (135 lb.).

I just want to be reassured that I won't break out again. My skin right now is perfect, and I never did have oily skin.

Really depends on the make-up of your blood components, your heart rate, all that sorta thing, for how long a medication will be flushed out.

You cant be sure, it might be 6 days, 6 months, 7 years, 2 decades or 39 years before you break out, but it still CAN happen. Maybe it wont, maybe it will, just wait and see.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe it may be a month. After that time it is supposed to be safe to give blood/become pregnant.

Yeah prolly right xandraa. Probably a month allows for some double sureness for those which meds get out slowly so probably even way less

Well it's been about 2.5 weeks since I quit and I don't notice any decline in my skin as it's leaving my system, so I guess that's something to be encouraged by!

Yeah. It is a good sign =)
If it does come back, just go on another course =)

You'll have another 60% chance to throw it into remission for good xD

i think it is only in your system for 1 month after stopping... thats why you arent supposed to get pregnant (if you're a girl) until you have been off of it for 1 month. i also did 80 mg/day (for 5 months) and i weigh 130-135 pounds. i was really worried about my acne coming back when i stopped accutane but it shouldnt matter if it is still in your system or not. ive been off accutane for 9 months and my skin is still 100% clear. it took about 6 weeks for all of my side effects to go away post tane. so enjoy your clear skin and dont worry smile.gif
