Hey I am just wondering if it is a good idea to sub in panoxyl as my benzoyl peroxide? please help.

If it's a 2.5% or a 5% BP, it should be fine (keep in mind, though, that 5% BP is going to be more drying--although no more effective against acne--than a 2.5% BP).

If it's a 10% BP, it's too harsh (Dan specifically says not to use 10% BP for The Regimen), and you'll need to find yourself a lower percentage BP.

PanOxyl uses 10% BP (benzoyl peroxide), and like C'est mentioned, it is waaaaaaaaaaaay too irritating to use for the regimen. Stick to something with 2.5% (like Neutrogena Spot Treatment).

That is incorrect. Pan Oxyl also has 5%

I have used Panoxyl before.

If I do recall right they have the aqueous based BP and the alcohol based BP. I don't remember exactly which one I picked but it may have been the aqueous one.

Yes it did work.

However
The drying was more than the moisturizer could handle. It led to flaky skin.

When I used it my acne was on full throttle, I wanted a gel to do the regimen and Panoxyl was what (gel) was available. It did convince me that the regimen works.

Other panoxyl downsides
It lumps up easily with moisturizer. This may be due to the fact that it leaves some significant coat on the skin.

But once again, it does work.

My acne recently started getting bad enough that the regimen didn't cut it (I believe it had to do with barely getting any direct sun for the past couple of months, which I am now correcting. That's the only thing that changed). I bought a PanOxyl 5% bar, which I used to use exclusively years and years ago, and use that to cleanse twice a day. It's super drying but Dan's moisturizer plus a few drops of Jojoba oil takes care of that completely. I do the regimen at night but not the morning (in the morning I cleanse then use moisturizer + tea tree oil). This keeps me completely clear. I believe the PanOxyl bar is able to get the benzoyl peroxide to penetrate VERY deeply. I rub it in for about 2 minutes, it's highly effective. It's completely impossible for me to break out using the bar in conjunction with Dan's BP.
