Is the regimen too severe for those with moderate/mild acne?

Hello everyone! I'm 17, and I wouldn't say I have bad acne. I have pretty bad blackheads on my nose, cheeks, and forehead, and I always have lots of bumps, whiteheads and oilyness, but only occassionally get cysts or actual pimples. Right now my skin is the worst it's ever been, I have a few pimples on my cheeks and chin but nothing like spots or huge bulging red spots...I've ordered Dan's products, and my skin is very sensitive, I literally can touch my face and it turns red, and I always am very flakey in the forehead. I've been reading a lot of stuff about the regimen and it sounds very harsh...has anyone with only moderate/mild acne had success? Also would I see results quicker than someone with more severe acne?
Any insight is greatly appreciated! I am very excited to receive my products and begin but I'm afraid that it could irritate my skin even more than it already is.

I'll guess we'll just have to adjust.

I'm just starting out too (although I'm not using Dan's official products), and from my experience, yes, the skin is slightly drier, and if untreated it will be more flakier, yet as long as you keep the ratio of BP:Moisturizer equal, then you will be fine!

The more BP you use, the more moisturizer you should use. If you use twice the amount of moisturizer for BP, then keep it at this level as you continue to apply more BP. This will lessen the severity of the dryness, and it will feel very dry - I know the feeling!

Oh and yes, in general, moderate acne will heal faster than severe acne.

Good luck my friend!

The Regimen actually works really well for mild acne. I had mild acne when I started using it, and it's kept me good and clear for well over a year now.

As Arcade said, just be sure to use enough moisturizer. BP is pretty drying when you're first starting out, and if your skin is already a bit dry and flaky, it's doubly important for you to moisturize. You might want to consider getting yourself some jojoba oil to mix with your moisturizer. A lot of people find that it helps a great deal when dealing with dry skin.

These replies are definitely correct. A common misconception with oily skin is not using enough moisturizer, especially with the drying effects of BP. I have extremely oily skin, as in an oil slick after an hour or two hours. 80% of the time on the regimen my skin is balanced between oily and dry, but no matter what I apply moisturizer. If it's a 20% oily chance, I have some tissue sheets/paper towels or oil blotting sheets, but that's rare. My oil is so much more under control than what it used to be, and I think that's mainly from digging my brain out of that hole that believes you shouldn't moisturize with oily skin (which are two different things). I don't neglect moisturizer or limit myself at all.

Even further to relate, I have mild/moderate acne.. AND sensitive skin. I know exactly what you're talking about when you can touch an area of your skin, and there is a red spot from your finger. Just start slow with BP as the regimen recommends, and don't ignore moisturizing just because you're prone to oily skin, and glide your fingers over your face as Dan recommends. But everyone's skin is different. I think starting with BP once nightly as Dan recommends for sensitive skin might be a good option and of course the recommended amount. Then go from there depending on your skin reacts (ie. irritation, stinging, redness, dryness).

I know it's a slippery slope with someone with oily/sensitive skin to begin, but just take it slow, moisturize, and see how it goes. It may not be everyone's outcome with sensitive/oily, but that has definitely worked for me.

I had mild/moderate acne and sensitive skin and I've been on the regimen for two weeks and my skin is already clear. What I do is only use the BP ONCE a day instead of the recommended twice a day. I also put jojoba oil on FIRST then the BP then an oil free moisturizer.
When I used the BP twice aday my face felt like it was on fire and was permanently bright red so I cut down to once a day and the irritation subsided. I had terrible flaky dry skin but someone reccomended putting jojoba oil on first and that's worked for me. I still get a little dryness but not horrible flakes. Hope this helps.

What kind of acne did you have and is this is only for night time? Also having jojoba first would make me think the BP couldnt do a good job...

Thank you all so much for replying!
I started my regimen last night and I did it again this morning.
I haven't had any trouble with the BP, it makes my skin feel tight but it doesn't make me red at all. The thing that makes me burn and red is when I put the moisturizer on. I also don't like the moisturizer much because it leaves me very greasy looking, and even an hour after I put it on, I touched my face and there was oil/residue all over my hand...I put a bit less moisturizer on this morning and I still came home looking like a greaseball so I guess I gotta grab some oil-blotting sheets! The only slight flaking I see right now is on my cheeks, and that's also where it burns a bit after moisturizer so hopefully I begin to flake on my forehead as well b/c that's where my main problems are.
