Thursday will be the end of my 4th week using Dan's regimen. I started slowly with the b.p. and am using a full finger (from the tube) once daily. Even this makes my skin very flakey and pink. So does this mean it's going to take longer to see some clearing/improvement? Because right now I am not seeing it. I expected SOMETHING by now. Will I need to be using the b.p. morning and night for awhile before I actually start to clear up? (Am using Aveeno calming face wash and Cetaphil moisturizer) TIA

You're rude. I am not doing "my own regimen." I didn't say the regimen is bad. Everyone's skin is different, reacts differently to different treatments. I am just seeking some constructive advice from experienced regimen users for my particular situation. Please don't post unless you can be helpful.

A finger full is the correct amount, but yes, you should be using it twice daily. That's one thing that is stressed, not using enough BP (or using too much in the beginning, which doesn't apply since you're in week four)
vipertong is right. Try jojoba oil for the flakiness. I'm not sure if you have done so yet, but check out the pinned topic "problems with dryness or flaking?". Also, a moisturizer with zinc oxide is supposed to help with redness. If you're in a pinch, Burt's Bees diaper ointment has both zinc oxide and jojoba oil. Just check out the other ingredients to make sure they'll agree with your skin.

No problem, and hopefully I'm not spamming now, but I'm kinda going through this as well. My skin is just on the verge from being a dry, flaky mess. I can feel it. So I found some promising user submitted reviews here on calamine, and I dunno why I didn't think of it to begin with since it makes sense for redness. But have you tried calamine lotion? (Of course, it'd probably be a night application since going around a pink, chalky mess is only cool if you have the chicken pox

Jojoba oil is great for flakes!! I use it at night mixed with Dan's moisturizer, but only add a couple drops. It leaves me feeling really moisturized...too bad I can't use it in the mornings though...I have to have an oil free moisturizer for my makeup (which I know is my own problem, but I have to have my makeup!!
Good luck with whatever you find to work for you, just try to stick with it and hopefully you'll see some results soon!!
Also, have you possibly thought of using Dan's cleanser and moisturizer in place of what you are using (or at least his face wash)? I know it's expensive with shipping, but I've found that since I've been using his stuff, as recommended - really gently, the redness is almost non existent other than where all my pimples and scars are! Maybe what you're using is a little too harsh?

Yeahh i think i agree with you because it does make any skin drier..and too dry skin..is NEVER good for Acne....in order to clear up skin has to be mouisurized ..just right so that ur not really flaking but your not all greasy(however at night i moiusturize more because no one can see you and skin repairs at night)....
OH YEAH AND ABOUT THE JOJOBA...OIL..I like it alot!! barely started using it three days ago..but skin feels much better ...i really like it
ohh yeah and about ur question Golthie..try adding 1/3 of finger in the morning of Bp to your current regimen..
HOPE I HELPED

Sushikam, what moisturizer do you use under makeup? I cannot go out without it either! the Cetaphil is just so heavy feeling for a.m. use.

Well up until this morning I've been using Aveeno Clear Complexion moisturizer...but I have been wanting to stop using it because the ingredients are weird and it contains salycic acid which I should avoid while on the regimen. I since ordered some Complex 15 Theraputic Moisturizer. It is one recommended or used often by other users of this website. Not one Dan recommends, but it's got good ratings. I used it for the first this morning and it felt really nice! Has the same consistency as Dan's moisturizer (if you've used it before) but doesn't have oil in it so my mineral makeup can go over it. I find that it doesn't moisturize quite well enough (for me my problem dry areas are around my chin)...but if you maybe just apply your cetaphil on your driest areas in addition to such a moisturizer as this, then you could solve the flakes problem.
I hope that this moisturizer doesn't break me out, but with the ingredients being what they are, I doubt I will. It feels much better going on too, kind of cooling rather than giving me a burning sensation like Dan's or my Aveeno sometimes did. I hope to soon start using a little BP in the mornings myself, and hopefully this moisturizer will go over the BP well.

I started very slowly with the b.p. so I am going to give the regimen more time to work. I know pimples can take weeks to form and surface so I'm just going to stick with it and wait it out. Thanks for your help and let me know how your skin likes the makeup!
