Permanent thin skin is listed on Wikipedia as a COMMON side effect of Accutane. Anyone have permanent skin thinning from Accutane? How would you know if your skin was permanently "thinned?"

Yes it can cause thinning of skin...It can also cause skin to be more fragile and more prone to heal slower. I guess one sign of skin thinning is how noticable your veins are, when you cut yourself or something similar is it diffrent then say before accutane.

Can it be permanet for some yes, Retnoids are part of the steroid family so I guess it can cause atrophy...May not happen to you though?

There have been some studies that show vit E counteracts some symptoms and toxicity from Vit A, but then there have been some that showed Accutane patients had no change and Vit E did nothing.

good luck

Yeah, I've noticed my skin has gotten a lot weaker. I hope it doesn't last forever.

I am one of them who suffer from thin skin due to accutane. It is going to be two years soon and although I hate to admit this but it probably going to be permanent.

I have been on Roaccutane for a decade and must say once I am off meds for a few weeks my skin becomes a lot thicker again.

Not sure if it is as thick as before I went on Roaccutane but I guess it is thick enough for me not to be too concern.

The skin does become thin and weak on Roaccutane because the oil and moisture is reduced out of skin surface. This is why you must take good care of your skin while on Roaccutane.

My veins are pretty visible now on Accutane...should I stop? I really don't want this to be permanent. They are showing everywhere.
