I am on my second month of Accutane (Claravis). First month at 40mg, second month at 80mg. I've been using Aquaphor, Dr Dans cortibalm and sometimes Nivea Kiss of Moisture. Those worked fine up until like week 7 when my lips got ridiculously dry and had a layer of white dead skin on them, were peely and rough, and no amount of the lip balms I was using was helping. They were reddish and sometimes burned when I put those balms on.

My derm had given me a tube of this stuff called Chopsaver a few weeks ago, and I forgot I even had it until I was digging around in my purse. I've been using it for 3-4 days now and am loving it. The dead skin is gone, my lips are basically smooth again. biggrin.gif And it also doesn't look all greasy like aquaphor. stays on for a long time and has a nice smell to it. I don't think I'm supposed to put any links in here, but you can just do a search on Chopsaver if interested.....

Just wanted to share a product tip for those that are suffering with dry lips, I was seriously starting to think the next three months were going to be pretty miserable lip wise. eusa_doh.gif

I am kind of in your situation too, on 80mg now 1/3 through month 3 and my lips are super annoying. Can I find this in any stores do you think? Or is it something I need to order online? Thanks for the tip! Glad it's working for you.

You can find it in some stores and some dermatologists offices(my derm carries it and thats how I found out about it). There's a place on their website for store locator that lists places that have it, but it's not sold in drug stores or anything like that. If you try it, hope it works for you too!

Hope you like it, I am seriously loving this stuff. I just got 3 more tubes of it because I would be seriously irritable if I lost the only one I had LOL. Yeah, it's a little pricey. But I figure if it keeps working for me, I won't be wasting any more money trying every lip balm at the drugstore and then pawning them off on my husband when they don't work for me biggrin.gif

I think I'm going to try this. Dr. Dan's was a miracle for me for a few weeks, but it's no longer doing the job. My lips are dark red, almost purple looking, from staying so chapped. I am drinking nearly a gallon of water a day so I don't know what else to do except a better lip balm. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Zen, same here....I'm drinking tons of water and taking vitamin E too. The dr. dans was great at first, but not cutting it anymore. Hope this stuff keeps working for me! Seems to make sense that it works so well after I looked at the ingredients....it's got natural butters and oils in it like
Shea butter, Mango butter, Aloe, Vitamin E, Avocado oil, etc.

Be careful not to drink too much water at a time. In my town a lady died on the radio trying to win a wii because she drank too much water.

Just be careful using lip balm folks. It takes away your lips ability to moisturize itself. That's why lips always feel dry and chapped. Of course if you are on accutane, you're going to need it. But once your skin starts becoming more normal and less dry, stop using it often. I can't go without lip balm now since I've been so dependent on it.

Bumping this up - I got my Chopsaver today and it definitely works better than everything else. I keep reapplying because it doesn't leave that waxy residue; it almost feels like it wears off fast even though my lips are the softest they've been in weeks. I really think my lips might feel normal again using this! I wish I had ordered more than one tube.

FYI: If you go to amazon.com and order it from B&G Music, they're selling it for about $6. Not sure if everyone qualifies, or if it's something B&G Music is offering, but I also got free shipping.

There are only 3 left! Get 'em!

So I've been using this for close to two weeks now.....it's still doing the job. It's all I use now and my lips are not peeling or cracking at ALL.

Just bumping this up so others can read about it.....this lip balm is unbelievable! I have seen several posts from others who have ordered it and love it. I am even able to wear lipstick again after applying a coat of this, and I thought lipstick was a thing of the past until after accutane. biggrin.gif

I have tried a ton of lip stuff. I have only 18 days left. Today, I bought the regular and SPF ChopSaver ($3.95 per tube) from a local music store because of all of this advocating. I keep on rubbing my lips together. They aren’t white, but not sure if it’s moisturizing as much for me as the Dr. Dan’s. I am going to continue using it to see how I like it. Thanks for the suggestion….I am ready to be done with all this lip stuff!

I've been using this for a few days now. It's definitely the best thing out there for Accutane lips that I've tried. I wouldn't say it's like miracle cure or anything-- my lips don't feel totally normal, but probably as close as they're going to get for a while! I ordered it on Amazon from a music store and with shipping it was only 6 dollars total. smile.gif
