I have been on minocycline for about 2 years now. I been taking 100mg in the morning and 100mg at night and just 1 week ago i decided to stop taking it to see if i would still break out. I did and its bad... But thats not the only reason i stopped.. i stopped because i was having digestive problems. I read that it kills the good bacteria in your system and can make you constipated/get other digestive problems.

Also when i take it in the morning i have to wait 1 hour to eat then 2 hours to take my vitamins.. kind of a hassle. And when i go outside in the sun i get dizzy and i also notice i get little red pigments on my face out of no where. I am wondering if i should go back on it and take 100mg or 200mg at night.. i just hope i dont have the side effect problems.. Any advice?? thanks in advance!!

I took Mino for a year before switching to birth control. Mino was pretty potent for my system. I remember banging my shin up against a poll just one month after starting the antibiotic and it caused tissue damage in the area where I banged my shin. The spot turned blue and it stayed that way for years!

Mino also caused me to have a mother of a yeast infection back in the spring of 2005. I went to the emergency room, was prescribed Difulcan, but that didn't get rid of my problem completely. Afterwards, I saw a gynecologist who prescribed Sporanox. That got rid of my problem and I was then put on birth control, albeit low dose.

I am in no way suggesting you go on birth control, but am leaving it up to you as a suggestion. This was perhaps the most effective acne treatment I’ve used to date. Although, I’m battling a case of perioral dermatitis right now with oral antibiotics and topical cream. My suggestion to you is to be careful with what you put on your face and never NEVER NEVER take an oral steroid with birth control. It will give you MORE acne and this is not what you want.

My suggestion to you if you’re going to take Mino is to eat yogurt no more than twice a week to keep the good bacteria and yeast in your body. Drink LOTS of water and try to eat lots of fruits and veggies.

Hope this helps,
