ok, im not really sure if this is the right place for this question, but i dunno where else to put it.

i work as an electrician, which means fysical work in dusty invironments most of the time, this doesnt go well combined with my skin.

when i get back from work my face looks redish and irritated because of the dust, it looks shiny of the sebum that has been building up all day and that shinyness gets even worse because of sweat.

i tried simple washing my face with water, but that makes it even worse! my face looks just as redish and oily, only the surface of my skin looks like mars or sumtin, like flaky combined with oil tongue.gif i really dont understand how that can happen, you would think cold water should calm down skin, right?

the downside is that i have to wash the dust of my face, so that really sux because it makes me look even worse.

so what can i do? how can i get rid of the oil on my face and calm down my skin without irritating it to much?

thanks

accutane - that stops the oil glands from working - but it is a serious drug and you will only be able to be prescribed it if your derm feels that you have bad enough acne and all other treatments have not worked in the past.

alexela,

i-would-love! to try accutane, but the problem is my acne isnt worse enough for it, i tried getting it but my derm absolutely wont give it to me, he said that my kind of acne wont get better and the irritation it causes would make my skin look worse.

he might have a point, but still, i would accept all those things just to give it a try..

but i think that accutane isnt going to happen for me..

Could you not talk to them about a low dose of it (5mg, 10mg a day), and see how it goes.
Also why not go to a another derm, they may feel different about your position you are in and accept it, however I believe, if your acne is not bad, it is up to you to use your persuasion skills if you really are desperate.
Dont give up, there will be a way.

Washing with water is definitely not enough for getting all those dust off your skin, no wonder it get worse. cold water might calm your skin down for a second... but you really should look into cleanser, toner and moisturizer that's formulated specifically for irritated skin and to reduce redness.
