Scoobie do and Greg09

did u ever have problems with the dermaroller needles bending?

andhow long did u use a dermaroller for before having to change it??? I heard that if the needles on a dermarolller bend, it can tear up the skin.

So glad to see such great results being achieved here!!

Hi Greg,
Good to hear from you.
I hope i can have the same fantastic results that you achieved.

Did you wash your face with tap water right after roling?
my face was covered in blood after rolling so I don't think it's wise to use any topical creme before washing off my blood.
but i'm not sure if washing face would make rolling less effective. oompf.gif

o~ and do you have any hypertrophic (raised) scars? I have some on my chin and it seems like there's no effective way to remove them juz yet.

Any advice?

Thanks for your help!

My motto is to roll really heavy (not carelessly), my face was really swollen/sore after my last
roll, and rest a couple of months and do it again. I'm gonna toss my roller after using it.
I'm too paranoid about infection/bent needles, but that's just me.

Does anyone prep the face with anything other than Hibiscrub? I notice it can't be purchased in the US - are there any alternate products that work as well? Can you just wash the face or is this too risky?

Thanks people! I am FINALLY about ready to start treating my scars!!! banana.gif

You have all given me so much hope smile.gif.

Honeygirl-

I have not ordered either one. If I were going to, I would just go to eBay.

I'm going to be using individual needles at first.

Oh man... no offense but, changed your life? You hardly had any scars.. just large pores and tiny picks.

I'm not convinced this treatment will work on actual scars.

I have very little time for people like you but here goes.

My photos don't really capture my scars very well at all, I have a lot of ice pick scars on both cheeks and some on my forehead. Just because they are possibly not as big as your scars does not mean that they have not caused me a lot of anguish over the years. If you really must know, my 6 year old niece asked me one time in a crowded theatre what was wrong with my face? The house lights accentuated the large gathering of albeit small scars on my cheeks and within a few minutes my 6 year old niece picked up on the fact that there was something wrong with my skin.

Have you ever considered that it might actually be as or almost as annoying for those of us who have a large number of small scars?

If you feel that the roller won't work despite all that people here have said why bother visiting this thread and commenting? You obviously have your mind made up despite what people here are saying.

If you feel that it is melodramatic to say that rolling has changed my life, let me put it like this: 7 months ago I was convinced that I would have ice pick scars all over both cheeks until the day I die and now I have hope that I might actually get rid of most of my scars. That might be a life changing stream of thought but it is for me because I am not so miserable every time I look in the mirror now!

Myself and others have posted here in a bid to spread the word about the benefits of rolling because we have seen real results, if you don't buy into that then do us all a favour and don't bother commenting on this thread. A lot of others have no hope out there and people like you just add fuel that hopelessness when myself and others know for a fact that scars can be improved even within 3 -6 months.

We are not here to waste our time typing for fun or to mislead people, we are here because our scars are going away despite what you may think!

I use hibisrucb and some dettol diluted with water on cotton pads. I am not a medical expert though, this is just what I do for me and it seems ok.

After rolling I wash my face gently with hibicrub, dry it then use the Bio Oil. Have had no issues doing it this way.

I have dropped my roller into the sink on 2 separate occasions, bent the needles both times. Finished my roll once with the bent needles but will NEVER do it again, far too risky, you don't want to tear skin like you said.

Personally I think that using a roller 2 or 3 times would be fine but I am no expert.

This is a very interesting thread. What sort of roller would be good for mild scarring on the temples?

I don't have any on my cheeks, but I have a few indentations on my temples. Is there any way to get rid of that sort of scarring? My scarring is not noticeable unless I'm under sunlight.

Sorry for the delay in not posting sooner, the kids take up all my time these days!

Did my 5th roll last month, went well, worked on scarred pores as well, thought for 10 days that my pores were responding well but then realised that the improvement seemed to be temporary sad.gif

Paid more attention with this roll and noticed that the areas where I have my ice pick scars seem to bleed when rolling quite a bit more so than other unscarred areas or areas with rolling scars. I am not sure if it is the case but I have a suspicion that my ice picks are maybe responding better than the rolling because the roller is breaking up the scar tissue underneath?!?!?

As for my overall development, I must admit that I got a bit discouraged this month, not because I don't think the rolling is working, I do, I just thought that it might help my scarred pores and large pores but so far that hasn't been the case. I am also not sure if the rolling will eventually slow down in terms of its effect, don't know why I think this given that I have been pleased up to this point, just worried that it may eventually cease to work.

To be honest I slightly regret having named this thread "6 months of dermarolling changed my life" as I dont want to get people's hopes up and I am no expert at this, I can only relay how I feel and pass on my progress.

I can't roll again for another 3 weeks even though it is 6 weeks since my last roll next friday, wish I could do another sooner, my aim is to have gotten rid of 50-60% of my scars by the end of the year, not sure if that is possible but that's my goal.

Am considering using LEDs soon, still not sold on them but haven't really researched them fully yet.

Oh and I have a few very mild scars on my temples which I believe have started to respond. Don't get carried away though as the temples seem to be one of the more sensitive spots and seem to bleed quite easily.

I have been up all night researching. I have come across a number of different procedures. I now realize a number of techniques may be employed in the treatment of indented acne scarring. I read that laser resurfacing and dermabrassion of the area is commonly performed; often in conjunction with other techniques such as fat transplantation, photodynamic therapy, blood transfer, punch grafting, tca cross method, for the best results and this also includes dermarolling

I came cross acne.org in 2004 and read/looked at profiles/pictures of acne scar treatments from around the world. The people in this web site have said good and bad things about a lot of procedures; rating all of them. Of course these people know of these techniques first hand. I came across a user that suggested a renowned Dr. in New Orleans. So I flew there twice to get dermabrasion done. (2004-2006) Now coming back to acne.org in search of bettering my skin yet again. I know that it is possible, because of all the pictures I have seen. Like I said above I now know, getting more then one treatment is maybe be the only way to archive this??? All the pictures I have seen with the results I would like. Are of people who have done this. Acne.org suggest subcision, peels, tca cross method to be better then laser and dermabrasion, but can be combined to achieve better results. There was a profile (out of many I looked at) of a guy that had subcision, the, tca cross method, dermaroller and a light Co2 laser done with amazing results!!!

I say this only because I have had 7 Co2 laser treatments done (2001-2004) with the first 3 not really seeing any improvement and was still looking for more. I then had 4 more on top of that and started to see an improvement. I then found acne.org and came a cross renowned Dr. that was out of New Orleans that did wired brush dermabrasion and I contacted him. He asked me to send him pictures of my skin (this way he could see if he could help me or not) He suggested punch floats before the first surgery, but I didn't do that. I still saw a great improvement in my skin!!! The second time I contacted him I/he suggested a few punch floats before the second treatment, which he performed and I flew out again 4 weeks later. I really saw great improvement in my rolling scars, pore size and over all texture and color of my skin. The only negative thing was that the punch floats left scars, but not indented ones. Scars that looked like; well lets just say if you were to get a writing pen (the retracting type) in the retract position, put it on your face, press firmly add a little twist; well it kind of left a mark like that. A bit smaller and permanent. Although the scar is even with my skin, it left a very small circle shaped scar slightly indented. I am now where I am and can now look at myself in the mirror. Yet I was interested in what procedures were out there again. I came a cross, what is said to be the best laser in the world. BUT!!!... this time around I am going to combine better treatments, just like the people with the great results! The guy that I told you about up above, that had the subcision, dermaroller, tca cross method, (never even knew about these treatments) and the light laser. It seriously looks like he never even had a pimple to have a scar. I think if I could get some of the deeper scars treated before another laser/dermabrasion treatment I could really benefit from it. So! I have had my first subcision treatments done. (this past Monday) WOW! I can't believe it, but it looks GREAT! They are still somewhat swollen and I hope they stay somewhat that way. I know it can take up to 7 treatments to get the collagen and scar tissue to achieves this. So far so good, I hope to only have a couple if not one treatment. Time will tell? The dermaroller just came today in the mail and I am so excited to start using it. It makes so much sense! After all collagen and elastin is what heals the skin and you don't even have to destroy healthy skin to achieve it. (IE: Laser/Dermabrasion) I guess you can say that subcision is a faster dermaroller, but the "guy" did dermaroller in between his subcision treatments for optimal collagen/elastin growth. He said that Vit.C is vital and that you can make it yourself. (via Internet recipe provided by a Dr.) He is right I researched Vit.C and well... Let's just say I have "REALLY" researched this time around and have also lived a lot of it.

All in all I am happy with my skin now but WOULD like to see more improvement!!!?!!! (I'm just so close) I have put at least $38,000 in to my skin thus far and really have got to a point to where I can look in to a mirror and feel ok. I have seen at least 8 people online with the results I would like to have that seem to have gotten them before I have, with less treatments, but with better results. I am reaching out to those people now. Maybe that is what I should have done before spending so much money and time.... whistling.gif( I think we just all need the RIGHT combination. No matter if it's for scars or just better skin.

Goodluck all!!!

Nathan
