It's only until I used Olay White radiance spf 19 lotion moisturizer that I realised my skin is actually dry at the same time! At first I thought the lotion mattified my skin as my skin looked matt and I was happy, until 2 hours later when I checked the mirror, there were actually pools of oil around the corners of my nose and my entire face was way greasier than usual. My skin felt tight and that taut feeling wouldn't go away until a couple of days after. Then I tried the Olay cream one under the same range and although it was greasy on me, my skin never felt tight and I didn't break out.
I always thought that oily skin meant that you must use a light moisturizer but now I know it isn't always true. Although I have extremely oily skin, light moisturizers meant for oily skin may not help moisturize my skin as my skin is also dehydrated. When I used H20 Face Oasis Gel, my face seems greasier than when I use Loreal's night cream. So I concluded that creams may be better for my skin.
So right now the problem is finding a night cream moisturizer that is not too rich for my very oily skin, but rich enough to target both the oiliness and dehydrated problem, as if it doesn't do a good job of moisturizing, my skin may overcompensate and produce even more oil.
Cream moisturizers for oily AND dehydrated skin?

A moisturizer doesn't "target" your oiliness. Your skin doesn't "overcompensate" for anything by producing more oil. Those are just Urban Myths.

how do you know? Everyone's skin is different, there are different types of oily. What works for me doesn't mean it has to work for you. Diet, environment and other factors affect the skin too. Your bold statement is not a fact. Just because something is different for you doesn't make what I said an urban myth.
AND YES MY SKIN DID OVERCOMPENSATE, IT'S A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I don't have to justify my experiences to you, becuase I've clearly stated what I went through and I know my own skin. Please do not state your opinion as truth like you do throughout the entire forum as I've noticed. I do not state mine as universal truth. So you do your little experiments but you are just a layman, like the rest of us here who seek help and are still seeking the best regiments for our own skin types.
I have no need for your scathing remark.

how do you know?
I've already posted the appropriate scientific evidence, in the form of excerpts from various medical journal articles and studies.

You aren't overly-sensitive about any of this, are you?
Before you decide for sure what your "personal experience" actually IS, I strongly suggest that you test yourself in a more scientific manner, just like _I_ did. You might be surprised by the results.

LOL!! So you think what I said before was a "scathing remark"?

I have no time for testing myself, I do trial and error after reading up on reviews online, I would know if something works because it's my skin, I don't need a laboratory for that. And some products have actually worked nicely for me through this method. I have read the way you post your opinions like facts around here and it's very annoying. Many of the posts here are made up of opinions and experiences anyway, everyone doesn't conduct tests like _you_.
Just because _you_ did a few little experiments and throw in some scientific jargons doesn't give you the right to belittle other people's opinions, when they do not fit in nicely with yours. Shouldn't we try to keep this place pleasant when it's difficult enough suffering from acne or other skin problems?

I realize this is an old post but figured I'd reply anyway. Bryan, you couldn't be more wrong with that statement. Skin can absolutely produce more oil if one is not using the proper moisturizer. I too am battling with this problem. I have seen a skin therapist so I know why my skin is producing more oil than it should--it's dehydrated.
Don't comment if you aren't sure, it's okay to be unsure.
