Hello everyone,

I had a bad case of impetigo (and conjuctivitis) on my face. I picked it up somewhere while I was camping. It came overnight and owned my face badly. In the start, doctors were puzzled over what it could be but thankfully I ignored corticosteroid ointments they prescribed and went for antibacterial immediately. Doctors tried to convince me I had an allergy rolleyes.gif

After two weeks of using antibacterial I am well again. But... there are some side effects. First, the anti bacterial was Mupirocin. In the side effects it mentioned my skin could feel like "needles were stinging me". I experienced that. It was very severe the first three nights, I could barely sleep at all.

On the third day I noticed my skin became very oily and shiny. There were little pools of oily substance on my face. Now two weeks have passed since I stopped using it and my skin is still oily. I have never seen this in my life. Something is very wrong here, and I don't know how to prevent it. I'm 26 years old, never had problems with acne or oily skin. Not even in puberty. I don't have problems with my skin on other body parts.

The problem is I am afraid the bacterial infection will return in these skin conditions if I don't get it back to normal again. Currently my regime is the same as it was before, wash my face in the morning (sometimes in evening as well) and that's it

Thanks for your help

Update: It seems my skin couldn't hold back the germs during the 3 weeks oily period so I had to go to a doctor for a different antibiotic.
This time I got Clindamycin inside Propylene Glycol as a lotion. I used it only once since I noticed my skin sebum increased (however it owned the red pimples). I'm fairly convinced now that I am reacting badly to Propylene Glycol and Polyethylene Glycol (which was in the antibiotic I used before). These both are alcohol based. I'm running out of topic antibiotic options since a lot of them contain these two... But I saw one that contains vaseline. Does anyone have experience with vaseline? Did anyone got oily skin from using it on face?

Update: I tried jojoba oil but had a rash-like reaction on 5th and 6th day so I discontinued. Maybe I used too much or too little. I won't be applying any topicals soon so I'll leave the skin alone for some time, it deserves some rest. I hope bacteria will stay away.

Update: Sebum levels are finally decreasing, and drastically! There's about 80% less sebum than it was a month ago. It takes about 30 hours now for sebum to reach levels that were previously made in 4 hours. I'm on my way to being my old self again
Still using nothing else but tap water in the morning.
