I used proactiv for about 6 months, it cleared me up a little but i feel i wasn't as consistent as i should have been because the bottles were so small I had to keep reordering. I found acne.org and the 16oz treatment bottle. I decided to buy just the treatment cream to give it a try. I noticed a change in 2 weeks. I am about 6 months into it and i am acne free. Now i am working on removing my slight acne scarring with acne.org AHA+ Which also seems to be working but very slowly.

I would say give the 16oz treatment a try, itll last you a few months, which should give you a good idea if its right or not for you. Its MUCH more cost efficient than proactiv.

I am 23 years old, I have had acne since i was 14, and only after acne.org, am i as clear as ive ever been.

Hi I am new to the site.
Have used proactive but had the same problem of running out and it really wasnt clearing me up. I have spent an enormous amount of money at a professional doing deep cleanses and silk peels every week. This would only help for a few days and then I would get so many new pimples.

Combination of lots of whiteheads under the skin and cystic.

Have been using Acne.org routine for 1 week and the best results!!

Have cancelled skin specialist appointments in fear it would make skin worse. Just kept on with this routine and have been very pleased. Saving so much money!!

Using
Nutrogena gentle cleanser
Benzac 2.5
Nutrogena oil free cleanser

on occassion that I have dead skin that needs removing I use nutrogena acne wash cause it has salicylic acid in it that gently removes my dead skin. not to be used every day though.

give it a go! switch from proactive. you will save heaps of money and the concept of the products are the same but for $30 you can purcahse all this from the chemist and if you run out there is no waiting and you dont have to be concerned about using too much as its not so expensive. Proactive used to shit me cause I would always run out of one before the other.

The Acne.org Regimen is MUCH better than Proactiv. Proactiv made my skin worse. I blame it for a lot of the minor scars I have. Horrible product. The Acne.org Regimen made a HUGE difference. It didn't clear me 100% unfortunately, but I would say about 80-85%. Just have to be patient with it.

well, i got my starter kit today and hopefully it works because
my acne has made me anti-social. I've been applying a little more BP that
comes with the Proactiv and that has started to make my skin flakey so hopefully
when i start the regimen tonight my skin will have been a little use to larger doese of BP.
Thanks you guys!
I'll keep yall updated on how this regimen works for my skin.

yeah this has been the best for me and I have tried everything. thats probably my problem, I would do so many different things at the same time.

This is so so so easy 3 steps and its true, the less we mess with our faces the better it is.

I had some success with proactive the first week but very minimal as I would still get cystic on the chin area. thought this was hormonal and wasnt going to ever be clear, but one week of Dan's recommendations and I am almost clear. I am due for period in 3 days and I had a few new ones come but within a day they have healed. Before I would breakout all over lots of little whiteheads everywhere and cyctic. nearly all gone.

I havnt had any problems with BP irritating my skin. Have used crap loads from day one as my face is very used to treatments from all the silk peels and deep clenses I would have. start off like Dan says and then use heaps when you can. I used to be afraid to moisturise too much but I find the BP allows me to use more moisturiser without the yucky feeling.

this is my 3rd day on the regimen and i'm liking the results!!! eusa_dance.gif eusa_clap.gif lol.gif
this is what i used to have:
1) a bumpy forehead with tiny whiteheads
2) cystic acne on my cheeks , mostly on the right and this would be the worse because
they leave horrible marks after they are gone

Now, when i started the regimen i didn;t have any cysts on my cheeks just the scars from the last ones BUT with proactive i would get one every 2 wks it seemed.
Because i have used a lot of stuff before i don;t really have a lot of flakiness or problems with dry skin.
Right now i'm just doing the regimen and taking some omega vitamins and not picking at my skin.
hopefully it can only get better from this point on eusa_pray.gif

I find that my face is not red like it was when I was using proactiv. I looked like I always had a sun burn.

One of the worse mistakes i made was assuming that my skin would be a little used to the BP in the Regimen cause i had been on Proactive. i didn't go in with a lot of BP but i could have started slower.

:0 me too! with Proactive my skin was OK it was actually pretty clear BUT i would get a HUGE pimple about twice a month and it would kill me sad.gif i was seriously thinking about dropping out. I would have preferred five smaller ones than one HUGE one. The huge one would linger and then scar and would be impossibly to cover-up..... so i just wouldn't go to school (i suck).

Your skin may get worse before it gets better but please don't give-up on the Regimen. I too thought my skin wasn't going to get dry but Oh yeah it did, my face was snowing (all the flakes lol.gif )

i really hope it works for you =)

I was on Proactiv for about two years and had few complaints about it until suddenly last October of 2008 cystic acne broke out in close clusters on my cheeks. Living in the very image-oriented Los Angeles and being a slightly vain person to begin with, I panicked. I searched online and found this site to be very helpful and so I thought I'd try the acne.org regimen. This did nothing to stop my acne. Since then I have tried some home remedies (no luck) and prescription pills (horrible side effects) and have finally settled into a routine using Ziana gel, following a very strict anti-inflammatory diet, and getting daily exercise that has seemed to work. Although I have some residual scarring and an occasional pimple, my skin and life has improved greatly. So here's my golden advice: every body is different. Something that might work for one person will be hell for another. The best you can do is try different methods until you find one that works for you. Remember to stay patient and positive! Being positive about making a change in your health makes all the difference.

Hi there! smile.gif)

I've never used Proactiv then immediately switched over to Dan's regimen BUT 3 years ago, I bought a Proactiv kit for my acne and after 3-4 days it made me break out even worse and I gave up!

I started using Dan's regimen in January this year (with Dan's BP and over-the-counter cleanser and moisturiser) and I saw results pretty much straightaway, with no purging with others have experienced.

Although both treatments (Dan's and Proactiv) are formulated with 2.5% BP, Proactiv is in no way comparable to Dan's in my opinion. I'd *definitely* recommend switching and best of luck!!!

Danni09,

I am a former Proactiv user (and so was my sister) and we are BOTH on the Regimen products - and I highly recommend them. I was on Proactiv for 4-5+ years - my sister was on it much longer (and on other stuff like Accutane etc..) and for both of us - Proactiv just stopped working. Period. I ended up taking a leap of faith and started the Regimen over a year ago - and I saw results immediately. For most people - it takes a few months for their face to clear up - but for me - what I saw right away - was the overall healing and health of my face - return. Dan's cleanser is drying - but so much more gentle than the medicated BP one that Proactiv has. This makes a huge difference.

Also - a HUGE thing to note: Proactiv's benzoyl peroxide treatment (which is 2.5% like Dan's but much much MUCH smaller) used to BLEACH my eyebrows YELLOW. Yes. True. Like I would have added highlights to my entire eyebrows. It was horrible.

However - Dan's BP - has NEVER done this - and I apply a TON of BP to my face and get it all over my eyebrows all the time - and not ONCE have I even noticed anything bleaching on them.

My conclusion? There is something extra - something definitely more HARSH - in Proactiv. It is NOT the same BP like Dan's - even though it claims to be 2.5% like Dan's - but there is something wrong with a product that dyes your eyebrows. Can you imagine what those chemicals were doing to your face??? If it was that strong to change your eyebrows (or at least mine??) Dan's products WORK and do NOT bleach your hair.

Switching to Dan's products was the best thing I ever did. You've got nothing to lose! Cheap products, large quantities - top quality - and constant feedback and support from great people!

Hey!!!!!

I had really severe acne (starting at age 12) and tried everything on the market (prescription and otc) – I even went on accutane! I finally got sooooo fed up with my skin and ordered Proactiv aftering seeing the Jennifer Love Hewitt commercial - i had been considering the prodyct for soo long before i ordered it and i wish i wouldnt have waited SOO long. It personally took me 2 weeks before I saw an improvement. My skin felt better as soon as I started using it (softer, smoother, healthier) but I did continue to break out. After the two weeks it got SO much better and now my skin looks GREAT!

After I had such an amazing experience with it my sister decided to try it. She has really sensitive skin and it took her a very long time for it to come around. She was ready to give up after about a month but I told her to persevere – She did and a few weeks later her skin started to look amazing as well.

My suggestion is to hold on and keep using it!

What size are the bottles that you are using because mine last me exactly 2 months?! I am sure that if you are using the trial sized bottles you can order the larger ones!

Maybe try something outside of the three step system too! If you are only using the 3 step system you have NO clue what you are missing out on! The refining mask can work miracles on stubborn breakouts... I like wearing it to bed or while I clean the house, in fact i am actually wearing it RIGHT NOW!!! And the green tea moisturizer is great for calming down the skin and making it look less irritated while it moisturizes - I sometimes dont even need to use foundation because this moisturizer takes away a lot of redness in my skin. The Clear Purifying mask is much like the refining mask except you can wear it under your makeup or to work. But my all time FAVE Proactiv product is the Advanced Blemish Treatment. It's a tiny little tube that is jam packed with fighting power. You just dab it on like a spot treatment and within the day it will decrease the size of the pimple! I wear it under my makeup allllll the time because it's clear! All of these products (except the refining mask) can follow the three step system and they just give your skin that extra little bit of medicine that it might be needing!

I would try and stick with Proactiv! if you use it consistantly it TOTALLY works magic... if you don't use it as directed you just aren't going to get the full Proactiv treatment! I use the three step system twice a day and then i use the other products as needed!

Good Luck!

I've been using Proactiv for about a year and I, like many others, saw great results. However, I was never dealing with cyst before. It's hard for me to completely relate, but I think if you start using more of the Spot treatment every night, it might really help!
