Zithromax is pretty much the only antibiotic that I'm not allergic to. I've never had it prescribed to me for acne before, but it does completely wipe out my acne when I'm on it for other reasons.

For me, at least, Zithromax has no side effects other than nausea after the first dose (which with the Z-Pack that's given when I'm sick is a double-dose). I think Zithromax is also one of the least likely antibiotics to be allergic to.

I didn't know the derm would prescribe it for acne; I'm definitely going to ask about that.

Good luck with it and please report back with your progress, I'm very interested!

Azithromycin can be prescribed for acne. There's studies and stuff about it.
500mg/day during 3 days each week.
Increasing results after 3 months of antibiotics (like the others)

The problem is..
Minocycline is superior, like doxy.
Macrolides which are eritromicin and azitromycin have the highest incidence of bacterial resistance between the antibiotics used for acne. But still are good options.

I used Azithromycin for a long period smile.gif

How long did you take azithromycin for acne? I have a dermatologist appointment next week and I really want to try taking this for acne, should I just straight up ask for it? I don't want to seem like a pushy know-it-all, but I've been prescribed a bunch of useless crap by dermatologists and I don't want to waste my time with more useless prescriptions...
