Candida Diet

Something that I have noticed from the candida dieters compared to paleo dieters is that we love fat. We are not scare of saturated fat (the research done has not determined it being bad, only bad science has). I actually cook with lard; saturated fat is more stable for cooking than either monounsaturated or polyunsaturated (the second safest is monounsaturated, and poly is not that good for cooking). Vegetable oil is mostly poly, lard is less than 10% poly. This helps us get all the energy you need (cals). I doubt you would be able to get that with purely meats and vegetables. We also eat more nuts and try to keep a healthy omega3/omega6 ratio.
Something else to note, you say is because of candida only. Right now I am thinking it might be a combination of both candida and low insulin spikes. This is because I notice the difference in my face when I get insulin spikes too quickly for it to be candida by itself. Also, I am not taking any of the probiotics/other supplements which candida dieters take. Again, the fat part is essential, I have heard people in the candida diet who have lower energy levels and I am guessing this is mainly caused by low consumption of calories. Most of the paleo dieters joined because they suffered from some energy problem (definitely not me, I have noticed mild improvements on energy, but that's because I never had any energy problem).
I will keep experimenting and let you know what my results are. We can beat this if we share knowledge on what has helped us. We are for sure in the right track. Let me know on your progress.

Yes its is def. true that on the Candida Diet you lose allot of weight and Energy. Atm I cant go to the gym because of the lack of energy, which I normally get from bread and potatoes. Went to see my grandma today and she said I lost weight
Im in week 2 now of the dieet. My face is a little bit better, although I dont see big improvement. But I think with the dieet allone you wont get verry far. Just avoiding bad foods wont put any good vitamines in your body. You have to constantly eat healthy, eat allot of vegetables.
@
I take supllements, but no probiotics yet. Probiotics are no use if the Candida is still in your body... it is to protect your body against future candida! I am now taking grapferuitextract which kills the candida. My die-off symptomes are not much atm... only experienced the stomach ach 1 day... maybe its because I have eaten some sugar the last 2 days ( 2 pieces of dark chocalate and 5 gummybears , Im a human after all
I bought Pau D'arco tea today, I will give this a try also. Atm, I find it hard not to eat bread, rice, sugar... I dont feel verry full after I eat now. Mostly eat eggs in the morning with sea salt, and sometimes some vegetables. Midday, nothing but if I do usually eggs or chicken with vegetables. At night again vegetables with meat (I eat almost every meat except sausages and hamburgers , fastfoody stuff ).
And yeh we can beat this.... need to work together indeed. For sure we will find a solution.
ATM I think that I need to clear my face and clogged pores by a skincarest... because they wont go away themselfs. But I dont know for sure... when I have the money I should try I think. good luck guys, keep posting!

The low energy levels you experience from the diet is because of the body switcing from high carbs/sugar to HIGH FATS. I know from experience the first month or two my energy was not there. I would try to work out or convince myself to take a walk, but I had no energy. The reason for this is because for my whole life I ran on high carbs and sugars and when you take that away gradually your body decreases its energy source. That's my opinion and the best way that I can explain that.
Things are going well for me.
Nothing on my back, neck.
Two small spots on my face and I can live with it!
Some good stuff:
Found a new favortie meat- Buffalo Meat
Love sea salt and organic unsalted butter
Love that I don't have to wash my face nor do I take a shower everyday
Vegetables are pretty much amazing
I enjoy cooking with coconut oil, however I don't like eating a spoonful plain.
I have incorporated about 3 cloves of garlic a day
Recommendation of the week: EpSoM SALT BATH. Take one and feel the toxins coming out through your largest organ (the skin). Makes your skin soft and helps eliminate toxins.
Don't think I answered everyone's questions, but nonetheless it's a simple update on how things are going for me.

I think you misunderstood me, paleo is by no means a calorie restriction program. We eat healthy (only meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, although I am trying no fruits in my case) but some people would disagree this is healthy because of the large amount of saturated fats. The issue is that there is no evidence that suggests saturated fats are bad for you or your heart. This was wrongly assumed after a study was published in 1953 which showed 6 countries, and as the countries ate more sat fat per person, the death ratio in the country by heart disease increased. What the paper doesn't mention is that they had data for 22 countries, but the other 16 countries did not make any sense under this theory, so they didn't publish it (this would disprove their point, and it would be another underlying variable, not sat fats).
I will report how the no fruit part goes in a couple of weeks.

On the steak, bacon, etc. I don't know for candida dieting. Nightdeisguise will have to answer that for you.
I am doing paleo without fruits, so there's steak, beef, bacon, etc everywhere.
I have also added 3 table spoons of organic extra virgin coconut oil a day (good for candida). Lets see what happens, I am still experimenting without fruits.

Increase the fat intake. "Good fats"! Organic unsalted butter, extra virgin olive oil, organic unrefined coconut oil, fatty meats...
Bacon is a great source of fat. Although, most bacon has nitrates and sugar added to it for taste. Try to find uncured bacon without nitrates and no sugar in the ingredients. It's out there, you just have to look for it.
Protein powder is not a natural source of protein. You're better off getting your protein from meat, eggs, and fish. There are a lot of added junk in protein powders, which I would stray away from. Most have fake sugars like aspartame, dextrose, etc...
You are doing great by watching the things you eat. People don't get sick because of eating right. They get sick from taking medicinal drugs and eating highly processed foods that are highly accessible in our society. Next time you go to the store walk down the aisles and look at what things cost less and what items cost more. Most definately it's the healthy choices that cost far more than the refined, processed foods that we are advertised to each and every day.
After some time on the diet you may still crave junk food, but in the end it all ends up tasting the same. Most of the time I crave meat and cooked vegetables. It's amazing how my taste buds have changed. In my opinion you can put all the junk in the same category as far as taste goes.
Try to find sauerkraut with ingredients: cabbage, water, and sea salt. Eat two tablespoons after every meal. It will help with digestion. You can also take HCL Betaine supplement to help with digestion. Both sauerkraut and HCL Betaine increase acid in your stomach and for many candida sufferers they have a low acidity.
my daily intake:
150g of fat (organic unsalted butter, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, fatty meats)
60g of protein (eggs, fish, meat)
35-50g of carbs (cooked vegetables)
Hope you find a solution,
Jeff

Let me ask you something, could you try giving up on nightshades (for 2 weeks) and letting us know if the 1-2 pimple break outs still happens? Nightshades is a family of veggies which include tomato, peppers, eggplant, and other (some are poisonous); they contribute to inflammation.
How often do you get this breakout?
Thanks a lot, your posts (as well as others) keep us going.

Everything is still doing great...
I want to take a few minutes and explain the type of skin problem I had. I think it's important that I do this, because I haven't in past posts.
My skin type before diet:
-new breakouts everyday pretty much
-skin increased oilness as day progressed
-whiteheads mostly with some smaller red acne
-infected hair follicles-- face, back, neck, head, and some other unmentionable places
-most common areas on face for break outs-- chin, upper lip, nose area, forehead
-inflammation and redness constantly
-hot and humid days would increase whiteheads
Skin type on the diet, hope you're ready for this:
-no oilyness
-single whiteheads from time to time (my body is still in the healing process)
-face, neck, back are 98% clear
-no more redness on my face
-bring on the hot days and the humidity
That's my skin type now. It's a significant change and it was a much needed change for me personally. Thank God for real food and natural healing...
Have a great week everyone,
Jeff

Things are going well still. I have no new forms of skin blemishes.
I have found a new favorite thing to eat. Ribs w/ organic unsalted butter melted on top with simply organic seasoning on top and Redmond's Real Kosher Sea Salt on top. It's extremely delicious!
I do not watch my omega 3 ratio. I eat three meals a day. I have meat at lunch and dinner. I have eggs for breakfast. And I have some sort of vegetable with all three meals. I also take cod liver oil. But I do not calculate my omega 3 intake. I know since I cut out a lot of omega 6 fatty acids in my diet that my Omega 3's have increased.
As far as fish goes, I usually eat fish maybe once a week. Wildplanet Tuna is the best tuna I've ever had. I recommend it. I also eat flounder, salmon, and orange ruffy from time to time.
Question to think about:
Why is it that all the healthy food is way more expensive than the junk food? What I mean by junk is all the processed stuff that comes in a box, bag, can, etc... 80% of the stores are being taken over by junk... Houston we have a problem.
A little rant: Think about it: We have become the most ill nation in all of history. Even if you are healthy there is a company out there trying to make you believe that you are sick. We have all these new pharmacuetical companies taking the money from our wallets. We have new products on the shelves daily that state instant relief. What if I take a stand and say "I AM HEALTHY". Would anyone join me? Why is it that at a pharmacy here in Pittsburgh are giving out free antibiotics with a prescription? Antibiotics kill "bad bacteria", but also kill "GOOD BACTERIA". HELLO! What does that do on the inside? I don't have an answer for that, but I'm sure with our wide variety of sources (mostly internet) you can find out for yourself. The increased use of antibiotics within America has led to other more serious strains of infection. For instance, MRSA and VRSA. These strains of bacteria weren't in existance 40 years ago like they are now. And what about all the new acne treatments whether it's topical, oral, etc... We are feeding the corporations millions of dollars and they do not even provide a cure. Nor are the dangers from using such acne treatments known over long periods of time. Humans have a cure for all of this. It is within ourselves and it's called the IMMUNE SYSTEM. Our immune system requires healthy eating, exercise, relaxation, sleep, etc... The immune system is not asking for pills and facial creams to help it. I think we are ignoring the effects of unhealthy diets, prescribed medications, and lack of overall well-being for our bodies. I'm not just saying all of this for my health, but I'm saying this for your health too. I'm not asking for replies about this. I was simply speaking my mind and this is my opinion. Take what I said and think about it. Hope my thoughts weren't too sporadic.
Hope things are going well for others who are trying different diets, regimens, etc... I hope everyone finds some sort of cure for there skin. And I also hope that you realize that you are a beautiful creation. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for visiting my posts and hope others find there cures.
For how many years you had symptoms, thats how many months you need to be on a candida diet.
Summary of my success:
increase good fats (butter, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil)
decrease carbohydrates (only eat sufficient amount of vegetables daily)
eat your meat (fish, fowl, beef, chicken, etc...)diminish your sugar intake (cookies, bread, rice, beans, potatoes, chips, pretzels, etc)
stop consuming fruit because of sugar content, only eat in moderation after healing has taken place.
care for your body in everything that you do,
If you ever happen to have any questions about my success or have any questions period don't be afraid to send a message my way.
Thanks again,
Jeff
I am cured.

Thats what I'm going to post now, for all of you on CANDIDA diets here are the musts:
The longevity of the diet: how many years you've had symptoms convert them into months and thats the length of time you should be on the diet. For example--- 5 years = 5 months on the diet.
I would have to say though going back to the way you were eating is not a smart thing to do.
I will do this in 4 different segments this is PART I: Diet is most important for candida sufferers. Although this diet also stregthens the immune system too, which is the most important benefit from this diet.
Real food is Medicine..
1) diet is first and for most--no no's- this means no sugar and no high carbs such as bread, oatmeal, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cereal, all fruit (except lemons and limes), peanut butter, muffins, bagels, deserts, carrots, pasta, bars, protein powders, no almonds (irridation nowadays makes them harmful for consumption), no peanuts (most people have allergies without even knowing it), no dairy (only organic butter is allowed), no rice, no beans etc... Have a question about a food ask?
allowed: meat, organic eggs, organic butter, organic extra virgin olive oil, unrefined organic, coconut oil, *cooked* vegetables (brocili, spinach, red/green/orange/yellow peppers, cauliflower, celery, spaghetti squash, onions, etc..), bacon only uncured w/ no nitrates, all nuts and seeds must be soaked in water (nuts are hard to digest for humans), Have questions about a food ask?
PART II: coming soon...

I know you shouldn't revert back to eating like crap, but can you at least start incorporating some "no" foods after you rid yourself of candida, like small portions of fruits, and things like carrots and sweet potatoes?
I sent an e-mail asking tons of questions, so I won't ask anymore for now. I promise

I think that is something to be proud about and sorry for my boasting. It's a relief I can go about the day without even thinking about a measly pimple/whitehead/bacterial infection.
It has been a year almost on the diet and I am still seeing outstanding results. However, I do not want to refer to this as a diet anymore, because it has become a lifestyle of mine now. Truly I am very thankful for having changed up my eating habits. I do have to admit that over the holiday season (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) I was not eating as clean as I was before. I noticed a change in my attitude, my skin, and my overall health. It is amazing the impact that food has on the body. I think I am back to where I started feeling more energetic than ever, clear-minded, and overall in better health. This is not just a diet for acne, but a way to enhance life physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I really do believe that the food that you consume has aan impact on all three of these factors. Anyways I'll just add a breakfast update for today!!!
Breakfast: I used coconut oil to fry the bacon!
--Antibiotic/hormone free bacon, also free of nitrates and nitrites cooked on the grill.
--Three organic scrambled eggs with veggies cooked in the leftover bacon grease.
***RESULTS***
Making my tastebuds very happy!!!
Hope you find a cure,
Jeff
ps i don't plan on updating very often, but if you want more info send me a message. Thanks everyone!
