Aight so I've been taking 40mg of Amnesteem for the past 8 days now and I finally gave into the urge to make a log. Partly because I think it could be interesting to look back on this all one day, I mean like when I'm a ripe old man, and hopefully have a high enough mindset that i wont have to worry or care what others think of my appearance, even if this doesn't work. So basically I just think this is an interesting part of my life and I might as well have something, if not an accutane log to look at later on down the road.
Well basically this is the part where I tell you my name and boring stuff like that
I'm a dude guy. My name is Seth,"Fitzy" is what the homies call me, and I live in an urban forest in Oregon.
I'm studying art and whatever else I feel like. Maybe some spanish and music classes.
Well I don't have to write out everything today, I've got hundreds to go.
Day 8
Well I've got some dry lips but nothing to cry about, my skin is still oily but I think a little less than normal. I never really count how many active i have but i have a lot haha, thats all i need to know. I'd say i might be a little more tired than usual but really nothing too noticeable.

Hopefully I keep this posted with current photos, I have a fairly good cam. so things might appear to come out at you.... don't be scared though eusa_naughty.gif ...
this is me at first glance haha

I like the way you think man... I started about 14 days ago now. Just hang in there, things will just keep getting better. For some reason I think of this song sometimes haha - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP4apO4dbhw

Hello! just wanted to say good luck. I've been on amnesteem also for a little over a month. I'm on 80 mg/day. Are you referring to high school or college classes? You failed to mention your age tongue.gif

Lucky for you, you got to get your prescription right away instead of waiting for a very cruel 30 days like us ladies have to.

You have a good way of thinking about all this. It helps 10000x if you go into this "journey" by not waiting for side effects & keeping a good attitude. That's what I've done so far and things haven't seemed nearly as bad as I was led to believe they would be.

Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to ask...
BUY AQUAPHOR!! smile.gif It's a miracle in a jar/tube.

ps you have beautiful eyes

steph - thanks for the support, I'm suppose to be bumped up to 80mg a day after the first month so high five on rockin the 80's. Oh by the way I'm 19 and about to finish up my first year at the U of O. if i make it out of finals week alive eusa_boohoo.gif haha nah i'm doing fine in my classes.
As far as accutane expectations I haven't set any so that helps to keep my mind on other things. Plus I just keep telling myself these are the last few months with acne, so I've been able to keep up the good vibrations.

Day 9

nothing really new to write I just thought i might as well put something since I'm making a post, my face continues to morph as cysts go up and down, it's like a very slow game of wack-a-mole thats about to have its plug pulled by the tane.

I'm going to go grill and skate

oo finals... I had my finals like 3 weeks ago? and we started our summer classes Tuesday already sad.gif I go to a community college though. I have a year and a half done, and a year to go of nursing school. I might get my bachelors later on, who knows. What are you majoring in?

Steph- So far I've declared my major as art, but I'm going to narrow that down somewhere along the line and I think I'm going to go into graphic design, haven't really made up my mind yet. Yeah I'm on my way to getting a bachelor of arts, this is my last week and I'll have one year down eusa_dance.gif. Thats cool that you're going to become a nurse, i think it would be sick to do that kind of work in other countries and help people out.

Day 14 Son Aight so it has been two weeks since my first pill and things seem to be trying to clear up here in the last few days. I'm still getting new cysts around the back of my jaw and temple area and the blackheads on my back and face are starting to come to the surface. I'm pretty sure i had an IB in the end of my first week because i broke out pretty bad and now things are starting to calm down.
Side Effects-I've noticed flaky skin especially in my facial hair, and dry lips but I've stayed on top of that since day one and it has bothered me. I'm also very good about drinking copious amounts of water and supplementing with fish oil so that keeps things pretty well in check. I would say that when i skateboard now, slamming takes a little more out of me but it hasn't effected me otherwise.

I'll continue to update this weekly, next week expect some pictures for worse or better surprised.gif

Dia 22 well i guess it being 1:10 in the morning means its actually day 23 now. Anyway, my face "was" starting to clear up at the end of the third week, but just in the last couple of days things have gone back to crappy. eusa_doh.gif Hopefully this IB will soon pass and my face can get back to healing. I'll post pictures tomorrow, but don't have the time to right now, still cramming for my last two finals tomorrow eusa_dance.gif Then it's officially summer. Hopefully i can come back to the Uni next fall with nice skin.

Side effects- nothing to major still, I've got the ever popular dry lips, some dry skin, and a little joint pain but really with enough water things can be kept at bay.

Day 27, Pill 25

Damn its almost the end of the first month already! surprised.gif I have my monthly derm app on Tuesday and hopefully she can give me something to calm my face down a little. The past couple of weeks have been rough. My face is constantly sprouting new cysts along my jaws and cheeks and they just don't want to die. Honestly my acne is now worse than it has ever been in my life but I know it's going to be worth it in the end. I haven't had many problems with side effects, besides dry lips, so I'm sure my derm is going to follow the course and bump me up to 80mg a day for the rest of my course, just have to keep up on my water intake and i should be fine. I finally bought some cetaphil products the other day, I'm actually pretty stoked on them. The cleanser is very gentle and doesn't dry out the skin.

oh and i promised some pictures for better or worse, too bad it's for worse rolleyes.gif

Week 5/Day 37 the days go by much quicker now, it must be because school has been out for a week or two. I had my second derm app. about a week ago and everything checked out fine so I am now scarfing down 80mg of amnesteem a day instead of 40. I haven't noticed any difference in side effects, except for some bloody bats in the cave, still the same old chapped lips and occasional dry eyes. I haven't been drinking much at all since school has been out so I'm glad to take a break from that for a few months. Face status-my face is still a battlefield, somedays I will wake up to 2 or 3 new ones and somedays the new ones don't appear until mid-day. Honestly my face is still worse than when i started this course and even then i thought my face wasn't looking to good, but i haven't lost hope eusa_naughty.gif and I'm hoping that if not this month then the 3rd month i will start to atleast see reduction in actives. For now the IB rages on
peace

p.s. I will post more pictures later tonight rolleyes.gif

you seem really really flakey in the last photos on the chin area, maybe you need a good moisturizer since accutane really dries people out. Id treat the front of the face with moisturizer like a cream or a lotion (like in my sig) not the sides, the sides seem to be really oily + cystic acne (i think you are a good accutane candidate except you get really realy dry in the front of the face and need moisturizer there.) wash with a gentle cleanser or something like what cleansers i recommend (lbri's deep pore cleanser + sponge and natures plus beauty cleansing bar.. these are the best cleansers that arent harsh on skin.. never use soap or detergents itll make your oily problem worse). I think the problem is so drastic for you because your hair sits on your face, and hair can get oily.
wish you luck.

thanks for the replys
adam-my face does look kind of flakey in the pictures but thats actually just my blond facial hair reflecting the lumens from my flashes camera surprised.gif
Ive been moisturizing the front of my face with cetaphil moisturizing lotion for all skin types and that easily keeps any flakes under control

I think I might hit up the derm tomorrow or the next day and see if i can get some predisone to calm my face down because I think it's starting to flare up more eusa_dance.gif ninja.gif

sorry for the shit quality on these photos but i forgot my connector cable for my camera at my house and I'm at my parents house right now so I had to use photobooth

Day 45 and two zig zags-
Things appear to be getting a little better ninja.gif fingers crossed. My facial complexion is still pretty rough and bumpy but I'm not breaking out with huge super cluster cysts eusa_clap.gif I'll still wake up to a couple of whiteheads or cysts, but they seem to be slowing down and going away. Ive been doing a lot of landscape and construction work out in the sun all day and then skateboarding afterwords so I haven't really noticed a lack of energy. My neck has been a little sore in the past couple of days and i get slight back pain every once in awhile but its things i can deal with. Oh i did get a bloody nose in the shower the other day, it bled for a long time and i was turning the water red in the shower, it was kind of weird.

These pictures make things look better than they really are, you can't really see the bumpy ness but I guess i can only really see that when i look close in the mirror anyway.

You are clearing up so fast! Awesomeness. I totally know what you mean about fingers crossed, every time I think I see improvement I knock on wood.

Did your derm end up prescribing prednisone? My derm said he could prescribe some but since I am on summer vacation and I don't have to work it wasn't really necessary. I hope my skin calms down before school starts. Fingers crossed! smile.gif

thanks for the replies

I was going to ask for prednisone but it seemed like just when i got super fed up with my face and about to make the call things would calm down so i figured i could go without it. I'm glad I timed my course over summer vacation because I don't have to be in class with all this stuff on my face and I'll hopefully go back to school in a couple of months with nice clear skin. eusa_dance.gif
