I just first heard of milk of magnesia today and I searched these forums and googled it and from what I read about 95% of the users have positive results using this for oil control. Wondering if you guys have any experience with it for oil?

My skin only gets oily and I dont have much acne anymore.
I'll be trying this soon looks promising.

I used milk of magnesia and didn't really notice a difference. I'm sure it helps some people, but for me it just made my makeup look strange! Let us know what happens if you decide to try it.

First off, this is amazing for oil! I can't believe I didn't find out about this earlier, there should be a sticky about this for oilyness on here. Got so fed up with oily skin that I was thinking of taking a small doese of accutane just for oilyness and I dont even have any acne anymore, thank God I found this.

Usually my entire face and some scalp gets oily in under an hour then it gets worser as time passes. But the milk of magnesia makes my oil non existant, my skin stays normal for 6-7 hours then gets only a little oily after. Tried it twice so far, both great, if theres white streaks I just use some jojoba oil. This also makes a good skin whitener as my skin looks lighter.

A little bit off topic.

Isn't all acne caused by oily skin? I mean all the hormonal problems etc cause skin to be oily which leads to acne. Oiliness is the main problem, right?

I used to have cystic acne but stopped all dairy consumption as I had an allergy to it which caused me breakouts. Now I'm only stuck with oily skin, no acne and the milk of magnesia is just controling my oil production to normal skin levels. Also I'm pretty sure people with dry skin get acne too.

You put it on your face smile.gif

If you drink it you'll poop- and that won't help your acne! Milk of Magnesia is commonly used as a laxative. But, if you put it on your face I'm guessing by what everyone says, your skin won't be so oily. Think I might try this..

I don't think you would use it as a moisturizer.

why?

because it's a liquid. I've used milk of magnesia for a bee sting when I was younger and it dries to like almost a powder. It doesn't act like a moisturizer. So I think you would put the milk of magnesia on your face. Then the AHA+ and then your moisturizer. That's just what I think..

i've tried AHA+ then Milk of Magnesia then moisterizer with no significant results.
I'll try milk of magnesia AHA+ then moisturize next time to see how that
works.
I'm starting to wonder if moisturizer is even necessary if I just ditch the AHA+.

Sometimes a moisturizer is neccessary with AHA- depending on your skin type. For some, AHA can dry out your skin (like me sometimes, but my AHA is also a moisturizer). But if your skin isn't dry, I'm sure you could try to ditch the moisturizer for maybe 1-4 weeks and see how your skin reacts.

I used MoM for a while, and it did help a lot. It does get rid of oil throughout the day, but for me it was overly drying. Use with caution!

How does it work? I mean do you have to apply it again and again each day or will it decrease the overall oil production?

Um, so do you leave the Milk of Magnesia on your face throughout the day, or is it used as a cleanser and washed of immediately. Or how is it used?

if you're using it as a mattifier, it should be used after your moisturizer. mom can leave your skin feeling dry the first few minutes you leave it on.

there are a lot of ways mom can be used. some use it as a mask, washing it off after a few minutes. if you're meaning for it to help with oiliness during the day, you leave it on. sometimes white streaks will happen, but those can be dabbed off.
