Does anyone know if the birth control called Yaz (something like that) works to prevent cysts. I only breakout about a week before my period and I read that taking birth control will stop this. If you know anything about this, please help!

I was prescribed Yasmin for my cystic hormonal acne and I have been on for 1 month and had no new breakouts where as before I would get pimples every other day. I think this pill combined with Retin A had helped me get clear. Now I am just battling the red marks left behind.

I am the opposite of this. I've been on Yaz for a month and have been breaking out like crazy. Same as when I was pregnant. Ugh. I think I'm a rarity and for most people yaz is quite effective.

In response to the people above, Yasmin cleared me up but Yaz made me breakout like crazy. I was on Yasmin first but tried Yaz for the "shorter, lighter periods" and whatnot - bad mistake. I know that sounds weird because they both have the same hormone, but the extra estrogen in Yasmin is what saved my skin. I switched back to Yasmin this month, and my skin is looking better I think from when Yaz totally destroyed it...
