Hello,

I am a almost 14 year old male and living in Mississauga, Canada. I just have a few questions about my skin care routine. I have combination skin.

My skin care routine consists of:

1st: I do Cleansing: I use either, Spectro Jel for Combination Skin,
or Clearasil Stay Clear Daily Cleansing Pads,

Note: Clearasil Stay Clear Daily Cleansing Pads have 2% Salicylic Acid for exfoliating.

2nd: I use Acne Cream: I use Clearasil Stay Clear Acne Treatment Cream BP Plus,
Umm.. I could not find a website for it.

3rd: I do Moisturize
Clean & Clear Oil Free Dual Action Moisturizer,

I do this routine every morning (uggg... 7:30 AM) and every night.

My questions are:

1. What other products should I be using.
2. Should there be any more changes to my skin care routine.
3. Do u think my puberty has anything to do with this?
4. Is there any make-at-home thing, or product, I can do to make my acne scars go away.
5. Should I use toner?
6. How much Salicylic Acid should my 1 of my products have to exfoliate my face?
7. How much Benzoyl Peroxide should I my products have for acne skin?
8. Am I using too much products in my skin care routine?

If you have anymore things to add please say it.
Remember, I am 14 years old, I do not have lots of money to spend of products.

Please and Thank You,
yeegreen

9. Should I be using both cleansers? I mean is, 1st I use the Spectro Jel for Combination Skin, and then I use Clearasil Stay Clear Daily Cleansing Pads?

10. Should I wait for the acne medication to dry, then put on the moisturizer?

Hello there!
1. you shouldnt use any extra products
2. the only change I suggest you make is to stop using the cleansing pads after already washing because this could really over dry your skin which isnt good
3. puberty can definitely be causing or adding to your acne
4. egg white masks help fade scars ive heard, so does lemon juice spread on your face and left on for like 10 min. then washed off
5. toner is not really necessary but if you want to I use neutrogena alcohol free toner.
6. sal. acid isnt necessary
7. 2.5% concentrations of BP are very effective with less drying and irritation than higher concentrations
8. once you take out the cleansing pads I think youll be fine
9.stated above
10. yes allow your treatment (BP) to dry like 10-15 min before moisturizing. Also after you wash your face let it dry for like 10 min. before putting on the BP!

I hope that helps and good luck biggrin.gif

Hello Samantha1224!,

Thanks for all the answers! Are there any over-the-counter vitamins I could take to heal my acne scars? Is it necessary to wait 10-15 minutes for the treatment (BP) to dry, because it usually takes about 5 minutes for the treatment (BP) to dry. Is exfoliating necessary, I do know that sal. acid exfoliates. Do you think toner will make my face clear up faster?

At my young age I sure do know alot about acne lol! And btw. you have very nice skin! smile.gif lol I wish I had your nice skin. Could you give me you daily skin care routine?

And should I be using a facial sun screen in the summer? If so... give me some cheap, good sun screen brands I should try. What ingredients in my skin regimen can make acne worse and better?

Please And Thank You for all your help! Keep it up!

Thanks ! Yeah Dan suggests to take Zinc and Fish oil pills so thats what I take, and as for my regimen I just use Dans products! But for the lotion during the day I use olay complete for sensitive skin because its oil free and it has sunscreen in it (equate makes this lotion for much cheaper). I spot treat with AHA as well! Every couple days I exfoliate with like neutrogena oil free acne scrub but very gently! I dont really know if a toner will clear you faster tho sorry! Hang in there! My skin was horrible when I was 14 it will get better!

Use Clearasil Daily wash. Leave it on for 3-5 minutes before washing off, then skip the moisturizer, except if you like around the eyes. Otherwise for your age this regimen is excellent. Sounds like your acne is minor, is that correct?

Use a toner, witch hazel is great, yes it has alcohol, but that's what kills bacteria. I have used it for many years, and it works great. Just pat gently on, that's it, no moisturizer. Been there.

I just read that you have acne scars already, they will fade.

Read and try this if you need it later:

Get Sheseido facial brush, use with foaming cleanser or Dove, circular motion on bar, circular motion on face, rinse well, rinse brush also. If you used make-up, clean brush on Dove or cleanser again, hang to dry, keep out of puddles in shower. Use gently to exfoliate, a bit harder to get out grime. Gets rid of whiteheads/blackheads. You can get brush at Sheseido or Sephora in store ordering.

For those with sensitive skin it works as well. Wait a few minutes then also use witch hazel, don't worry I look 10 years younger and I've used it for years, works great after wash. Pat gently only. Then go to your Gen Med doctor get sulfacet r with tint instead of make-up and use it 3 times a day, washing your face when you can before. Use before bedtime too. Insurance covers most of it, 10-12 dollars a jar w/insurance. Use one or two jars a month.

GUYS USE NO TINT SULFACET R.

Pat face gently with towel, do not rub, constantly touch, or pick at skin. This product is a constant gentle exfoliator with topical antibiotics.

(Sulfacet r is mainly used for rosacea, but is wonderful for acne)

No more acne...stop eating junk food, you are what you eat...cheating sometimes is okay, but be careful. Everyone in my family cleared up this way. We ranged from cystic acne to teeny pimples all over.

Clear skin finally!!!!
