I started on the dianne birth control pill for my acne 2 weeks ago...my face has absolutely errupted and is so much worse than it ever was.For the first time in my life i have cystic acne..i have a very large swollen pimple on the side of my lip
does this pill work? should i stay on it? is it meant to get worse before it gets better?

Hi hatingacne
When i started diannette each time my skin cleared up within the month. However, i know of others where they have broken out and it has taken between 3-6 months. Hang in there - i found diannette to be extremely effective - my skin has always responded to it and the results are wonderful. I am sure things will settle down soon as your body adjusts.

Hey! I used Dianette for a year and loved it. It really helped my skin. I started using it along side topical antibiotics and that helped hugely. I stopped using the antibiotics and the Dianette had obviously already started to work as I didn't need to go back to the antibiotics. Loved it!!!
Maybe you could use something like a topical antibiotic just to help you along with confidence etc. otherwise hang in there - it really worked for me.

It works really well for me, but then I also have hormone problems so dianette is also helping those. First time round it took about 3 months really till everything was sorted so hang on in there.
