I am wondering if there is a link to ejaculation leading to breakouts and whether or not they experience premature ejaculation, meaning they could possibly be a histadeliac.
When I masturbate I orgasm very quickly usually. I can go as fast or slow as I want but usually I go fast.

The reason being is because too much masturbation to ejaculation converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone(DHT) which in turn stimulate the sebaceous glands.
Ejaculation catalyzes a huge amount of testosterone into DHT.
This can also lead to male baldness... because of the excessive DHT. So acne and hair loss.
You can learn tantric sex though... learn to separate your orgasm from your ejaculation... and hence you will not get a huge serge of DHT, or if you haven't learned tantric sex you can also just masturbate but not ejaculate. It's those frequent surges of suddenly high DHT blood levels that causes the problems.
DHT is also one of the most potent androgen hormones.
Also after ejaculation there is also parasympathetic response from the nervous system to quickly make more male hormones. I personally think of DHT as spent testosterone... it's used up and now the liver needs to take it out of the system, but at the same time the body needs to make more testosterone. Also excessive amounts of DHT grow the prostate. And are especially important during puberty for this reason. Reason why the prostate just gets bigger and bigger over the years... sometimes even leading to prostate cancer. So yes... excessive ejaculation definitely takes its toll.
However it is not so harmful if you ejaculate 1-3 times a week. In fact... I think not masturbating at least once a week is not healthy... I mean, you gotta clean out the pipes... and they just going to clean out in my sleep anyways so might as well enjoy it!
I have been making new rules for myself lately... I'm going with one ejaculation a week... maybe just Saturday night... but I want to get into the tantric sex thing. That will take time though to learn, takes daily practice, and sure would help if I had a girlfriend to practice it with.

It's like exercising a muscle. If you don't exercise your muscles they become less and less.
But for the penis... you don't necessarily need to exercise it to ejaculation.
You can just learn to exercise it to pump it up with blood... balloon it up... Make it grow...
Try to stretch it out with blood daily... and really force that blood down there with your stomach muscles... It might make you have a pretty strong erection.
But don't ejaculate... you lose your buildup of sex hormones... testosterone get's spent to DHT... the DHT will cause your prostate to enlarge, and your sebaceous glands to excrete sebum... and might even make you bald.

In these past 2 years I've been on 2 different family vacations. Once to Vegas and once to Hawaii. Both trips I was obviously not masturbating at all and my skin was definitely clearer.
Anyways I've said to myself many times I'm really gonna try to stop or do it very rarely (to avoid wet dreams) to see if it helps and always gave in. This time I'm really doing it, it's been 2 days so far (woo) not sure how long until I should see a noticeable decrease in breakouts but if it happens I will let you guys know...lol.

Anyways, in the name of science, I've decided to put this to the test. Since I believe I've stopped breaking out on my chin since stopping masturbation, I want to see if it's really true. So today, I wanked it. Do you guys think I'll break out on my chin now?
We shall see...

I'd like Dan to edit the myth about BP not contributing to prolonged red marks and wrinkles. Clearly, the free radicals produced by BP slow the healing process and age our skin.
How you do know this?
I use BP >_>
I am 23, people think I look 18-19.

I'm going to keep doing this indefinitely as well as giving up all dairy products, i think those are my two big triggers so i'm hoping that will clear it up.

Thank you for creating this helpful page and this community. I would like, however, to ask for a clarification of one of the points on the myths page which directly affects me and that is the myth about 'masturbation or sex and acne'.
The reply on your page that this thesis has been abused by groups that adhere to certain anti sexual morals is well understood. Before you delete this email as another one of 'these', let me however state that I have no religious affiliation whatsoever, and that I certainly do not see sex or masturbation as something amoral.
Please allow me to briefly state my problem: I am 32 years old and have had mild to severe acne since I am 15. The acne in my teenager years was severe (with the creation of scars) and fairly constant but since the 20s the intensity started to fluctuate wildly. I have had many years to get experience which factors influence this intensity and there is no doubt that for my type of acne the frequency of ejaculation is the main determining factor.
I say ejaculation and not sex or masturbation as it is really the ejaculation that causes the flare up. There is no difference between masturbation or intercourse. If I ejaculate once a week or less my skin is nearly clean. About twice a week means mild acne. Sexually very active times (like a new girlfriend) with once a day or more induces serious acne. There is a delay for changes to take effect. When my ejaculation frequency increases into the dangerous area, it takes about a week until the increase in acne can be observed. The same it true vice verse, a reduction in frequency does require several weeks till the skin starts to clear noticeably.
I am well aware that this problem seems to be rather uncommon and for most people this correlation does not appear. It may be that it solely appears in certain forms of adult acne. However that may be, I have experienced that anyone who mentions this problem on the internet is at best ignored or at worst treated with derision or as a religious zealot.
I have an MSc in Biology and am working in pharmaceutical cancer research. I know from this area how incredibly complex most metabolic and signaling pathways are. And only a fraction of pathway regulation by protein protein interaction is well understood.
I am not an expert in this area but the idea that sexual activity and the resulting changes in hormone levels could have no effect on skin secretion while the hormonal changes in puberty are proven to do so, seems to be rather ignorant.
My suspicion is that the prevalence of this thesis is a symptom of a scientific backlash towards wrongful religious moralization. After all, masturbation has been blamed for so many problems, like loss of bone tissue or brain cells that most people have become used to reject anything which puts it into any relation to a medical problem.
I would however like to discuss this form of acne and possible solutions other than sexual abstinence on the internet. For this it is essential that people not suffering from it do not see it as fiction. If it would be better known that such a form of acne does exist, maybe there would also be more scientific effort into researching the underlying reasons and coming up with better forms of therapies or treatments.
I therefore would like to ask you to restate the paragraph on your website towards a more balanced view. A possible suggestion would be:
In most cases there it no such connection and this argument has been heavily abused by people trying to dissuade young people from having premarital sex. There are, however, rare forms of adult acne which are induced by sexual frequency.
Thank you,
Tim
100% correct. Nearly everyone I have met with recalcitrant acne has an unusually high libido. I actually think you understate the implications between acne and sexual stimulation.

I think I'm going to do what PlzWorkFishOil did. 30 days of no masturbation followed by a month of ejaculating only once a week. Then I'll do twice a week the next month. Probably going to keep it around there. Might go to three times if everything is going well.

I might do that too. I am concerned if I don't masturbate for a long period of time. Although I managed not to masturbate for 6-7 months!!! Actually, I did masturbated, but never ejaculated.
Sometimes, I ejaculate by accident, but I don''t break out.Well, it's hard to tell because I usually get 6-7 acne (small one) a month.

still breaking out pretty good, worse than its been in a while but i'm sure its the milk and now that i've stopped milk and masturbation i expect it to start getting better real soon
its strange, my acne is worse now than it was when i started this abstinence program but because i'm not jerking off i'm more confident and thus care less about my skin.
i still want it to clear up but it doesn't get me down like it did before i started this

there are so many variables in diet, supplements (lack of, more off) and skin treatment information on here to clear your skin. ive been suffering for 10 years Really badly, and until i found this site i've never had clear skin apart from when i was On acut.. but now taking the abundance of information and coming up with something that works for you, it can happen
try out the different things advised on here re the above. this thread is no different than saying that you will try to only piss once a day, no matter what. a professional needs to come in here and tell you guys to stop looking for the pink elephant in this thing. its like "i've been clear since i stopped masturbating... (btw i also stopped drinking milk and eating KFC)".. think about how ridiculous some of these things sound
