I have a derm appointment today with the PA there, so we'll see what's going to happen. I'm hoping to try something like Clenia, and keep the Ziana. I'm very dissatisfied with my skin right now. About 7 actives. This treatment plan had some really great initial clearing, but it doesn't seem to help that much anymore, which blows.

I'm 33, done with acne. My oily skin is 1000 times worse in this heat, and so I just feel fairly miserable.

This is one of the reasons I wanted to go back on accutane. Sure, my acne is mild to moderate, but it's tenacious, and my outrageously oily skin doesn't help matters. I end up wasting time and money in pursuit of some new topical treatment, only to find out, shit, it doesn't work.

Sigh...

It's official! I'm going on Accutane. After going to the derm yesterday, and her seeing my lack of progress...she's the one who suggested it.

Mild/moderate but stubborn acne with way overactive sebacious glands is a recipe for never getting any lasting relief.

I had my first pregnancy test yesterday. And have to have another in a month. Have to fill my BCP today and go through all the iPledge crap.

I'm excited, but wish the process would be easier. I understand the need to prevent birth defects, but at 33, I feel like a responsible individual who should be trusted with something like this.

Anyway, in a month or so, I'll be starting a Accutane log!

Hi special agent!!!

i was on aczone before starting accutane on june 16.

When i was first reading your blog on how great aczone is working, i almost fainted. when i got through the whole thing, i can say that i completely understand your frustration with aczone. In my opinion, it sucks!!! sorry to say that like a child but it does. I blame a lot of my breakouts on aczone. It made my face burn for more than two weeks, and breakouts kept consistently coming... not only that, its so rough!!! a person might as well put a spoon full of salt and water on their face than buying this product. (i think salt and water may even work better).

Take care and good luck with accutane!!!

***Buy aquaphor for chapped and cracked skin, use that on ur lips b4 taking accutane and it will prevent dry ashy, flaky lips.... trust me it is a necessity

QUOTE (SpecialAgent @ Feb 27 2009, 09:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Crap. Spoke too soon. 3 new zits overnight.

On the plus side, they're small. They don't appear as if they'll be anything other than smallish whiteheads.

On the minus side...well...they're zits, and of course I feel that burgeoning anxiety I've been feeling these last four months watching my skin grow worse and worse. eusa_wall.gif

It's only been 9 days of treatment, and I've heard that dreaded IB comes around the 2-3 week mark. I don't remember getting an IB with Retin-A in high school. Perhaps, though, the Ziana is purging my skin.

Still, who wants to be purged? I just want to be clear, like we all do!!

Anyway, I'm posting some of the before pics. These were taken about 2 weeks ago, before I visited the derm.

I'll take some 'progress' pics in a few days. Right now, my skin is mostly smooth, but with A LOT of red marks.

gosh - you had me excited there for awhile - I have tried everything under the sun and i think my problem is even worse - when i was younger and lived in NH my skin was perfect - when I was in my mid 30's and moved to Florida it started up - when I hit about 45,, it was getting pretty bad - now I am 54 and I just cannot take it anymore - I don't even think a lot of them are pimples - they are just bumps popping up all over the place and I am not one who seems to be able to control her hands - if I cannot get to a dermatologist who actuallly kind of burns them, I use a needle which of course does nothing but make them bleed and get worse - I put differen all over my face and neck and in morning seems a little better - one hour later, all back with more - duac does not seem to work = my dermatologist will be yelling at me good on Jan 11 with the amount of picking I have done - have red blotches everywhere - I am going to have to resort to what my mother did when I had chicken pox and wear gloves..........
