Life can be hard enough. Living with acne can be even harder. People who don't have acne can never understand what it is like to have it, rather they can just assume what it's like. Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like nothing because you had acne? I know I have. I've gone through times in my life where I avoided looking in the mirror entirely. I was literally scared of what I might see. I was scared of reality.
Have you ever let acne control your life? I have. Whether I went somewhere or not, like to the store or even out to eat, much depended on how my skin looked. I couldn't tell you of all the countless hours I spent thinking about my acne and even sometimes crying. Having acne can hurt a person if they don't accept the fact that they have it. For years, I never could accept it. I felt as if I was the "generic" version of a human being.
Twice I have tried taking my own life because I felt at an all time low. I let acne control who I was. My self-esteem was completely crumbled. I felt as if all hope was gone. But now, I still have acne, but I finally realized something that I wish I had realized years ago. A person with acne and a person with clear skin are no different. Why is it that many of us worry about how others see us? Isn't it true that society shows us that clear skin is "beautiful". Well, I disagree. Each and every one of us whether we have acne or not, are beautiful in one way or another.
When looking in the mirror, look beyond your acne and see yourself as a person. Even if you have to, every morning when you wake up tell yourself positive things. Don't try to think of your acne every second of the day because no matter how much we wish, it's not going to magically go away at the snap of our fingers.
All of you, please don't let acne control who you are. Life is too short to spend countless hours, days, weeks, and even years worrying about our skin.

For those acne sufferers who feel low about themselves, please don't. If you feel down or depressed or even suicidal email me, please. titocarguellojr@aol.com

Nice post ac. and yes I've felt (and sometimes still do) exactly how you've felt (except suicidal thoughts concerning acne). I've felt like nothing, hated looking in the mirror and have even stayed home or avoided friends/my boyfriend because of my acne and thats sad. On days where i have a bad zit(s) and i have to go out I absolutely HATE it!!! But I have learned i'll always be conscious of my acne but to just go on with life and be strong about it! We only have ONE life right! lol and I've also realized ppl are too hard on themselves! i think when we/I look in the mirror we see a distorted image of our face. I think we think its much worse than it really is. Ppl dont see our acne the way we do because we dwell on it so much. That helps me get through sometimes. But again your post was very nice/optimistic/caring & helpful!!
Thanks!

Wow,totally blown away from ur post "Tca"
Acne its embarrasing, devastating,I am going to take youre advice
Just alot of people have flawless skin,& u ask yourself, wow why cant i have that???
but i hope we all outgrow acne in some way!!!
& laugh about it,in the future with all the acne sufferers because we are all humans.with feelings!!!
& if you are a person that doesnt have acne, dont be so shallow & judgemental, look at us for the inside
Thanks & Respect
