Hi everybody! I'm new to this site. I'm 42 years old and have very bad cystic acne. I have been to many dermatologists and have tried all sorts of creams, and many antibiotics. My latest dermatologist gave me a prescription for Spiro and I've been reading up on it and the side effects. I gotta say I'm concerned. I normally and very run down and tired and am worried that it will get worse with the medication. Also, I take a multi-vitamin, minerals, herbal medications to boost mental energy and some natural, herbal adrenal capsules. Would these interfere with the Spiro? Would I need to stop taking them? Any advice anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would say that you have a RX for it to give it a try. Start low and go higher if needed. I was scared too...trust me. It took me 6 months before I decided to just do it. I started at 25mg and am up to 75mg. May go to 100mg next month- we shall see.
As far as the vitamins go, you should be fine...the only problem is the potassium. But the Doc, if concerend, would test your levels. My Doc didn't because she said she's never seen, or had a situation where it was ever an issue. I would just call your Doc and tell him/her what your taking and see if that's a problem with Spiro.
The first 2 weeks I would say was the dehydration, slight nausteated feeling period. It slowly decreased after that and I don't have any of those side effects anymore and it's been 6 weeks.

Heather may I ask if you experienced the dreaded IB from Spiro? I've had my prescription sitting in a drawer for 6 months now while I debate with myself about whether I should take it or not/ whether I should take it with an antibiotic just in case. I can't reach a decision! So frightened of making things worse.

I'm sorry but I'm new here so I don't know what the dreaded IB is. Is it another bad side effect?
