Hi everyone,
My name is Danielle, I am an Esthetician with 12 years experience. For those who don't know, an Esthetician is someone who is licensed by a Board of Cosmetology and whose education and practice is based solely on skincare. I happened upon this message board and I am just floored at how many people there are searching for answers out there. I hope I will be able to share knowledge and advice based off of my experience and what I have found working with hundreds of "faces" over the years.

Soaking your face in hot water for 60 seconds is doing nothing beneficial, if your acne is inflamed it will only irritate it and definitely not help! I'm guessing you are doing this to "open the pores". A pore size is genetic, and it is elastic. It will stretch to hold whatever is in it (until the point that it ruptures and forms a pimple) but that whole hot/cold water thing is a myth. I would suggest to take a look at the regimine suggested by the founder of this board (it is really cheap) or hook up with an Esthetician in your area who can partner with you to clear this up.

Whee! Another knowledgeable poster. I'm an RN with 12 years experience. We have two other RNs who post regularly, a scattering of estheticians, and various other persons who generally know their stuff. Welcome to the boards.
PS: Please do avoid mentioning the spa you work in, though. That would be advertising according to our board rules and this site accepts no advertising at all, not even in posts and most certainly not to run the boards themselves. The founder of the site spends his own money to keep these boards up.

Hey can you explain to me why, when I stopped using anything for my face except water, did I clear up? And even when i do get a pimple it's a tiny one. Also do you really think drinking apple cider vinegar is any good for getting rid/preventing acne?

I am planning to use 20% TCA ( Trichloroacetic Acid)I had it alredy just receive but I don't know if just one application or daily. My question is do I only apply ONCE then wait for peeling or do I need to apply it daily until it will start peeling? Please if anyone knows about this help me I am naive about this. TY.

Thanks for the welcome! I am also interested in learning from others on here as it seems there is always something new to learn. Thanks for the heads up on mentioning a spa name- I definitely don't want to advertise myself, if everyone could do that then I'm sure the board would be filled with nothing but people trying to promote themselves!

There is no way that I could offer you any advice about using a TCA peel on your face! That is a very serious and agressive acid and you could really hurt yourself doing that. I am curious as to where you got it from because TCA is really a professional only or physician only product. There really is a reason for that. Trust me, if it was safe to market and put in the hands of the general public they would have found a way to make money from selling it in the drugstore. Please, please don't put that on your skin! I appreciate that you are being proactive about your skincare but this is your face that you are talking about! You could risk scarring and severe pain if you do that! I am talking SEVERE pain from a chemical burn. Like- you have to go to the emergency room kind of pain. Have you considered working with a dermatologist or skin care clinic?

I wouldn't know why without asking alot of questions about alot of other things going on with you during the time you had acne. People's skin is a very complex thing-think about it, it is an ORGAN that is covering our entire being-pretty cool! I have never heard of drinking apple cider vinegar until I started reading posts on this board. Acne is a genetic condition of the pores, I think there are alot of "old wives tale" type things out there because people have to believe that something will work. Some people say it worked for them but there could be many other factors in their lifestyle that coincedentaly changed as well. It's so hard to say but I think it is really important for people to partner with a skincare professional that knows them personally.
