I am 35 years old and recently got off the BC pill. Since then I have been experiencieng hormonal acne on my face, neck, and back. Some of it is cystic. The dermatologist has put me on 50mg of Spironolactone once a day. I have been on this for 2 weeks and I am still having breakouts. Is anyone else taking this medication? If so, how long does it take to work?

I alos have horrible acne like sores that have come out on my hair line on the sides and back of my neck. The dermatologist prescribed Olux which did not work. Then she prescribed Capex medicated shampoo. This is not working either. Any suggestions?

hmmm frog1218... well if you have a lot of the cystic acne i would suggest accutane...but if its not that bad you could try dan's product or go back to the derm and ask for some retin-a, defferin etc. Spironolactone?? never heard of it. well i hope you find a solution!!!!!

Because cystic acne is so severe, I think the best idea is seeing a dermatologist.

But just an FYI if your planning on having kids anytime soon NO ACCUTANE!!! its forbidden even on the pill packages it has a pregnant lady and a slash over her or at least it did when I was on them. so yea thats the only dilemma.
