I first contracted mild acne around the age of 11 and as I became older it slowly got worse. By the age of about 14 I became very concious of my acne and started to wear cosmetics in an attempt to cover it. I started to become obsessed with ways to get rid of acne and constantly trying different products to improve it, some of these worked for a short period but the acne always returned. I started to feel very run-down and in the end went to see a dermotologist, where I was prescribed antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide to treat it. This worked for a while and seemed to greatly improve my acne however after a few months the acne returned and it was onto the next lot of tablets and ointments. Over the past two years I have tried in all about 5 different types of tablet and ointments but while they all seemed to work for a short while the acne always returns. I am now currently taking an oral contraceptive pill that is used primarily to prevent the release of tetosterone, (one of the main causes of spots) as well as a topical gel called Duac. However though it seems to be healing existing spots, new ones are occasionally but continually coming through, some quite aggressive. It has got to the stage where its difficult to hide with make-up, I feel the acne makes me look really ugly and I can't bear to look at myself in a mirror without getting upset. Acne has really started to control my life, as I'm sure it has so many people.
I've heard you can use laser surgery to remove acne and acne pores? Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this and if it had worked for them?
If not, has anyone found any particular drug or ointment that has had permanent successful results on their acne?
Never-ending acne?

if your acne isn't very serious i would suggest sprio, it has helped me drastically! but if you have severe acne, accutane can be a last resort. definately talk things out with your derm and weigh your options.
i took accutane three times in the last ten years and though for me the results were not permanent, i was always so amazed and impressed with how great my skin looked after finishing a course of accutane. the last time i took accutane, i took it with yasmin birth control and i was super clear until i stopped taking the bcp cause i'm trying to conceive.
good luck! it does get better!

the only topical lotion ive found help calm down my skin is FREEDERM. i cannot use any other topical products. i dont recommend birth control, such a dianette. ive been suffering for 12 years, im on doxycyline now.
im sure your still beautiful
xxxxx
also sorry, i went to harley street in london re laser treatment. it does look good but the side effects mean you have to break out to bring everything to the surface and one session costs £150 and you need more than 6 for results x

I've got freederm lotion here and i've used it and i still seem to get spots, even the most littlest spots it doesn't take care of.
