Hey, so I know this has been brought up a few times in the past but I just wanted to share my success with using Neosporin to spot treat popped/healing pimples. Now I'm not condoning popping pimples but sometimes it kind of has to be done unfortunately(especially for special events and stuff) and you need a quick remedy to make it look better. It also works for pimples that have just naturally "popped" or "extracted" and are in the healing/scabbing process.
I have very mild acne but I've found that when I do get breakouts, using very small amounts of neosporin 2-3 times a day has helped heal my popped pimples almost fully within a few days and not only that but they aren't marking nearly as bad as they usually do(and I'm someone who marks very easily and for very long). Who knows, it may just be luck or maybe my skin is finally regaining it's resilience from the past damage I've done to it with BP and various chemicals but I was pretty surprised to see such good results.
Now it's not something to rely on, I've heard that since it has antibiotics in it that a sort of tolerance can be acquired. Not sure how true that is but either way, it's not something to use often, only for emergencies IMO. Anyway, I'm sure most people know about it and it may not work for everyone but for some it might be worth a shot to help speed up the healing process and help avoid pigmentation or scars a bit.

Went the Neosporin route after I carefully popped a whitehead. I do this method in the evening so I can put a band-aid over the lesion. Next morning, it looks healed. I also do this for emergency purposes. I know my story isn't exactly like yours, sorry about that.

Yes, Neosporin has been showing good results throughout my acne life.
Pros: Kills bacteria
Speeds Healing
Stops pimples from reappearing
Cons:Comedogenic
Cannot apply to large areas
Other Thoughts: There is a better way to make this use more effective. After popping the pimple, use 1 side of a Q-tip to clean off any blood, dip the other end in a Erythromycin Topical Solution USP 2%(76.8 Alcohol, anything higher might dry out the skin more), which kills bacteria ASAP. give it 1 minute to dry and immediately give a small dab of Neosporin on there. It would look a whole lot better, and the pimple wouldn't be all inflamed looking.

Do NOT use a topical antibiotic like Neosporin for more than 10 days straight in one location, even though this stuff may work quite well. But if you use it too long you can quickly develop a resistance to it, potentially creating really big problems later on, because it will no longer work and you will have to use even stronger antibiotics.
But yeah, it's cool to use it as an antibiotic for after you pop a pimple.

As the above poster said, you need to use it sparingly. I use it for no more then 3 days on damaged skin or a popped pimple. It helps the healing process and absorbs reasonably quick. I use the new spray on Neosporin.
