Hey everybody! As my topic title states, I'm new to the boards, but not to acne. My name is Sherry (or "Sherry Baby" as I'm commonly called. lol) I have had acne since I was 12, and I'm now 27. I will try to make this story short, but I'm not making any promises. My face started breaking out (mildly) when I was 12 and got really bad by the time I was 14, I had whiteheads, blackheads, cystic pimples, and regular inflamed pimples. My skin was totally oily and my breakouts were limited to the T-zone (forehead, around nose, mouth, chin). I never went to the derm, cuz it wasn't covered under my insurance and we didn't have the money. At 15, I was told I had ovarian cysts and was put on Ortho Tricyclen to treat them. The cysts went away and about half of my acne did. I still had some zits, but the cystic ones went away and many of the white heads and black heads did too. The oil was less, but was still there. I stayed on the pill till I was 22. I then went off by choice and boy did I notice the effects. The formerly gone cystic zits returned with a vengence and my acne itself changed. My T-zone at this point cleared up a bunch, but my jawline, lower cheeks, and chin went crazy. I hadn't seen acne that bad since I was 14. After years of treating w/ BP creams, my skin if this makes any sense, was both oily and dry, and the zits left scars...especially on my left side. I was off the pill for 3 years and then decided to go back on. I was only on a year and decided that I needed something else, because the pill only reduced the zits and it didn't eliminate the oil. I then saw a dermatologist who started me on rounds of antibiotics. I didn't agree with this, because I knew the acne was hormonal and in the end all it did was give me a horrific yeast infection. So I did some research and called my GYN (new one). I have to call for an apt. tomorrow and he agrees I need hormonal testing done, because something is up. In addition, over the past few years I've noticed night sweats and small (thankfully fine and blonde) hairs coming in on my chin and especially around the pimples I get. So that's my story. I have read extraordinary things about Spyro, so I'm sort of hoping that will be the path we take. Anyway, sorry this is so long, just wanted to be detailed. Glad to meet all of you!
