Today is the first day I have ever been on this site. I thought I would describe my skin type and the various things I have tried in the past to clear up my acne.
First off, I am 18, and haven't really had a problem with acne before except during my early teen years. But in the past year it has come back worse than ever before. My skin is fairly sensitive, and extremely dry. I wash my face twice a day and follow up with a moisturizer. My acne is moderate, usually lots of small bumps and 2-4 cysts at a time.
I have tried Proactive, which cleared up my acne some over a few months, but never fully cleared it and within the four month mark I started breaking out more, so I stopped using it.
I used Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash and Oil-Eliminating Astringent, which also worked for a few months before I started breaking out again.
A few months ago I decided to try to go natural, with my skin being sensitive. I bought goat milk soap with oatmeal and chamomile, and used honey mixed with Pond's moisturizer, and my face cleared dramatically. However, I have hit the four month mark and now that regimen has quit working as well.
As far as makeup goes, I have to switch foundations every month or so. I use liquids or creams because they cover better than powders do. Mineral makeup makes me break out more, so I stay away from those. I try to buy foundations that are oil-free. My face will work well with a certain foundation for about 4 weeks, but then it becomes too oily or too dry, even with the same cleansing ritual. Therefore, by the time I'm out of one kind of foundation, I have to go find a different kind.
I am seriously considering finally seeing a dermo about it since I can't find a regimen that continues to work.
Is there anyone out there who has/had a similar skin type as me and found that the suggested regimen works for them? Comments and opinions are much appreciated!!

Hi,
I have struggled with acne too. Remember that the three essentials to your routine are cleanse, tone, and moisturize. I use this cleanser called Herbalism and it keeps my skin clear. I then use stridex after I cleanse, It is like a skin buffer, toner, and acne treater all in one I use it in place of a toner. Then I use bare minerals skin rever upper and then my clinique dramatically different mousturizer, at night I do the sam routine but with a different moisterizer called hope in a jar by philosophy! Good luck!

Good job switching to the Goats Milk Soap! Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is in most cleansers, is extremely - and I mean extremely - irritating to sensitive skin like ours. For me, I found it was the cause of the majority of my cystic acne. If you need to try more cleansers, I highly recommend all of Vanicream's and Free and Clear's products. They don't cause me to break out, nor do they cause my skin lots of irritation. I am currently using Aczone for my acne, a Rx medication, and it has been doing a good job without causing a lot of irritation.

I hope your skin clears soon!
It's nice meet another person with very sensitive, dry skin and persistent acne. I am the same way!
