Hello,
I'm new to acne.org and I figured I'd post a quick intro of myself.
I'm a 24-year-old guy, about to graduate from college with a B.S. in Information Technology, and feeling real annoyed with my moderate bacne. Although it's not horribly severe, it's bad enough to significantly impact my confidence in my appearance, and keeps me from ever taking my shirt off in front of other people. Kind of a shame because I wouldn't be bad-looking otherwise. I fortunately don't have problems with acne affecting my self-esteem in general, it just frustrates me and makes me feel uncertain about how I look.
Throughout high school and a couple years afterward I had fairly bad facial acne, but then it started clearing up on its own, and while I still have a little, these days it's so minor it doesn't bother me much. Unfortunately, shortly after my facial acne cleared, I got moderate bacne, which if anything is even worse than facial acne because it's much harder to treat it and keep it under control, and the resulting pimples are much larger than ones on the face -- kind of enormous and really red-looking. Because of that, even just one pimple looks really bad. I've been living with it for several years now and I've tried a lot of different products, none of which have had a significant effect on eliminating it.
Now I've finally decided that I've had it, and I'm going all-out on trying to crush this damn bacne. I've started taking probiotics to improve my digestion, a multivitamin with zinc (but not iodine), I'm cutting out most of the junk food in my diet, I've eliminated all dairy, I'm drinking a lot more water, and I ditched the product I was using before and am now trying Dan's regimen for 'mild to moderate bacne' ... and, because I suspect that fabric abrasion while I sleep might aggravate my acne, I'm even going to try to start sleeping face-down despite the fact that I have a lot of trouble getting comfortable that way.
If all this doesn't start clearing me up within a month or two, then I honestly don't know what I could possibly do... I'm making some pretty substantive changes to my lifestyle at this point. Here's hoping I notice some real improvement and can achieve perfectly clear skin, because even just one pimple at a time looks terrible on my back because they're so huge and inflamed.
Wish me luck, and I also wish good luck to everyone out there in their quests to rid themselves of acne.
Hello
