Hi Everybody,

I am new to this website and am looking for advice on anything that can help!

I started breaking out roughly when I was 12 years old and I am 20 now.
I find that every few months or so, particularly when seasons change from fall to winter, or winter to spring, my face ends up looking like one giant blister.

I have tried all the mainstream stuff out there like ProActiv, Differin, tetracycline pills, etc. and nothing has really helped. I remember telling a new dermatologist not to prescribe me Differin, and she being the big help that she was, represcribed it!

Dermatologists haven't really been that big of a help. They say that my best bet is laser treatments. I am a student though and I've heard these treatments can be costly. Also, I feel like I would just end up wasting money because there is no point in getting laser treatments when the acne is just going to come back. Isn't it better to treat acne scarring once acne has fully stopped surfacing?

I have tried high-end products from the drug stores and am currently using the Vichy line. I honestly don't know if I see a difference but I take pictures of all angles of my face every couple of days to track my progress (if any).

After much contemplation and speculation, I decided to go on Diane-35 because I have heard many women swear by this and are actually scared to come off it because they think their acne will come back!

I have been on Diane-35 for a little over a week now and I don't know if it's just me, but I am already seeing changes with my mood (I'm having uncontrollable fits and find the smallest things can irritate me). In terms of my face, I am feeling really large hard bumps on my chin, a couple on my forehead and the sides of my head and cheeks. It doesn't look noticeable, but I know that these painful bulges will only get more obvious as the days go by. I am REALLY scared because I heard that Diane-35 is supposed to make it better. Does it get worse before it gets better?!

When my acne starts to get like this I start acting very insecure and barely leave my home because of how awful I feel both on the inside and outside. I get really emotional and cry over pictures I find of acne on the internet fearing mine will get worse and look that bad. It's emotionally draining to be out and to constantly think "are they looking at me or are they looking at me because of my face?"

I have been wearing little to no makeup so that my skin "breathes" and my routine is the usual cleanser, toner and moisturizer.

My questions to anyone out there are:
-Does Diane-35 make acne worse before it gets better?
-How soon did you see changes when taking Diane-35?
-Anything that helps with birth control-related mood swings?
-How do you stay positive when your breakouts turn for the worst?
-What is good for clearing up scars moreso than the pimples? (I really wouldn't mind pimples if they cleared up and didn't leave scars...my skin tends to react like red wine spilled on a white carpet, nothing you do will get it out!)

Thanks in advance everybody! smile.gif

Hi there, monopoly. I am not taking Diane 35 so can't be of any help there, but wanted to welcome you to acne.org. smile.gif
