Hey everyone,
I'm a 14 year old female and I've been suffering with light to severe acne for about 5 years on and off.
I've tried everything from Proactive, La Roche-Posay, Clean and Clear, Spectro, Neutrogena .. hell every possible over the counter tratment available in Canada as well as a whole bunch of prescriptions. I've been to a dermatologist many times and all they've been giving me is BP and My skin recently ( 2-3 years ago ) developed what seems to be hypersensitivity towards it. There has been many fluctuations in my acne ( none hormonal related ) because one thing would work for me for a little it and very quickly my skin builds an immunity towards it and fights back with more acne. So now I have combonation skin that either becomes excessively dry or excessively oily plus wheather I pick or not it leaves behind really dark acne scars that I am constantly trying to cover up and I don't know what to do with it !. I've been to naturpathic doctors aswell and things were just as bad. Even doing the : no fabric softner in clothes, bed sheets cleaned every day, no bangs near your forhead approach did nothing. I'm sick and tired of going through all this rediculous skin phases and I just want SOMETHING that could help me.

PLEASE any suggestions welcome.
below a picture similer to the pigment spots I have, It's not me .

Have you tried oral antibiotics or a topical antibiotic like Clindamycin gel? No BP involved. I don't usually recommend oral antibiotics, but it might could help in your case if you do a short run with it. The topical gel is very gentle and effective. Take care and welcome to acne.org. smile.gif

Clindamycin gel ?
like the stuff thats in Clindoxyl Gel ?
Like just straight or mixed with something ?
cause Clindoxyl killed me aswell, and usual the stuff thats " gentle " doesn't really work. I'll give it a try anywho, right now I'm battling with my Spectro.. stuffs' violently drying. Thank you and I'll try smile.gif

Hi there! smile.gif I have hypersensitive skin as well, and I have found Aczone really effective. I have mild, but persistent inflammatory acne, and this is the only medication that has done the trick for me. And trust me, I have tried them all (clidamycin, BP, birth control, oral antibiotics, tons of retinoids, you name it, I've tried it)! Definitely ask your Dermatologist about it.

Also, make sure you are using skin-care for sensitive skin. It's really important to not cause irritation on skin like ours! Vanicream, Free&Clear and a few products from Basis, Dove and Cetaphil are great. My allergist and dermatologist both really love Vanicream products, and I do as well. They are the only products that haven't caused irritation for me!

Thanks , I will take a looke at all of these smile.gif

Aczone was just approved December 08, so a lot of people haven't heard of it. smile.gif I really like it, though! The only side effect I get from it is oily skin; after years of having horribly dry skin, I kind of welcome the change.

As for your dermatologist, definitely get a new one, especially if you feel he or she is not listening to you nor helping. It took me 3 bad dermatologists to find a good one, and I absolutely love my current dermatologist. smile.gif She's kind, caring, listens, and sees me as often as I need. Keep searching!
