I just did my first 1.5mm dermarolling session with Dr. Roller's 3-line roller. It really didn't hurt after applying EMLA cream + dressing and waiting an hour + icing the area 10 minutes prior to the roll.

I also dumped Jason's Hyper-C Serum on it, so we'll see how it goes.

i really wonder why there is NO recommedation of needling/dermaroller to treat acne scars in many official international medical sites..?

i know some said it may be due to the fact that the dermatologists dont have the technology to sell to patients but some research said it hasnt had enought scientific evidence to prove it.. here in hongkong there are SO many comanpies claims that it works because they just wanna sell the dermrollers, which i think is cruel to people who are suffering from acne scar, the pain that others cant taste.. so can someone offer me other answers? please?I am SO eager to know

PS I am so excited to find this site recently where i can find people who can understand the situation im going through eusa_drool.gif (especially last summer i was seriously depressed because of my face as i was going to be a freshman in the coming year WHICH CAUSED ME TO HAVE SERIOUS BREAKOUT, SO GUYS PLEASE DANT BE DEPRESSED AT ANYTIME CUASE IT CAN CASUE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES ) AND i would like to thank all who give informative replies which really help! really appreciate! THANK YOU! eusa_clap.gif biggrin.gif

Hey,just wanted to let you know that you r not alone. The treason behind the fact that aesthetic surgeons/doctors dont post dermaroller on their website is because there is very mimnimal proof that it works. The theory that leads to the derma roller does not seem to be accepted by many doctors, however for us acne sufferers...we are willing to try just about anything. As for my case i have signed up for derma roller sessions with a medical doctor, and will be hoping that my scars will disappear/diminish within the next 5 months-otherwise i am just lost for hope and .....

hey rebel1992 thank you so much for that! i know the treatment u are going through cause i have read ur earlier post and i have replied it in case u didnt know sideways.gif
the treatment the derm suggested tome is so similar to yours but i go all the chemical peeling first and then the dermarolling. but i havent decided to do the dermarolling coz i do think i have indented or icepick scars instead and i read from here that its best for rolling and boxcar scarrings. i really dont know what my scars call. as like half of the scars i recieved is not related to acne.its becoz of me ...anyway long story..

and also the money whichis huge to people like us.. poor student .. so i totally felt what u are going thru too when i saw ur post

btw dermarolling is like a trend in korea and is quite successful thats why it get into hongkong, so at least there some proves and hopes out there!

anyway good luck with ur treatment! i hope u end up with prettier and healthy skin biggrin.gif best wishes

Haha, yeah thanks.Guess we are in the same shoes.Well basically,i would suggest that you go for derma rolling if you believe it works regardless of the type of scars, because regardless of ice pick, boxcar or etc...the scars will appear smmother and not hideous. Moreover i would suggest doing it early,i have strong belief that when you are young your scars heal much faster because of (i dunnno,AGE!).For example,in my first derma roller,2mm,i felt the doc did a bit aggressively on my cheeks,i can feel with two layers of numbing cream already applied, people say it would take a few days for the redness to subside but for me ,less than 24 hrs.Though due to zealous rolling,i suffered a few scratches like marks,it went away in 1 week.
Well i think thats my advice to you.
ANd anyways good luck for your treatments and am happy to hear that it is a huge success in KOREA.Keep in touch.

Just a quick question, does dermarolling do anything to raised lighter coloured scars? I have one on the side of my nose which is slightly whiter then normal skin colour that I am considering rolling if I buy a roller.

I just performed my 2nd dermarolling session to my left cheek last night. Now this is probably due to the microswelling, but all of the scars I rolled over feel flat and smooth! Unfortunately the hyperpigmentation is still in it, but as far as texture goes, wow it looks and feels better. Again, I doubt it's going to last long but it's sure pretty cool too look at biggrin.gif

I rolled more aggresively than last time.

Has anyone noticed shiny waxy skin, reminiscent of the old dermabrasion/full face laser waxy look?

I am about 2-3 weeks into my most recent derma rolling and my skin looks shiny and waxy.

hey sanjose,
i had full face dermabrasion maybe 13 years ago, left my skin
kinda funky looking as far as texture. rolling, for me never
did that,,,,,,,, my last 2 rolls my skin look bad for a couple of
weeks, but then rebounded. its actually, one month post roll,
looking better than it has in a long time.

wanted to wish you the best with rolling or whatever other
things you try.

Ive been on the acne.org regimen for years now to stay clear. Im wondering if I can have dermarolling done and still continue with the regimen in order to prevent breakouts?

Havent seen any noticeable results yet. Downtime for 2mm should be more than one day, you probably arent aggressive enough. I always bleed a lot and cant leave the house for at least 3 days.

Anyone know where I can get dermarolling done in Southern California? I just don't think I can do it myself. I've found American Medical Aesthetics, but I don't think they use the longer needles. If anyone has had this done in SoCal, I'd love to know where.
Thanks!

i have 1 raised scar and after 3 sessions of rolling it's gone down by about half.

amyelizabeth - rolling is pretty easy and isn't that painful, i don't use a numbing cream or anything i can handle it just fine. if you were to have someone do it, it can be $100+ per treatment. my roller was only $50 and came with some creams and is supposed to last 6-7 sessions.

Hello

I have not read the whole thread, but I would appreciate if anyone could jump in and offer advice on a general consescous of what is the best way to use the derma roller with.

Creams? Supplements?

From my own research the must haves should be a collagen supplement, like NeoCell Super Collagen + C Type I and III

Best reviews on Amazon by far! It only gets 4.5 from 15 people just because 2 of them never got the supplement (from Amazon? weird) and gave 1 point.

A good quality vitamin c cream that would promote collagen formation, Avalon Organic Botanicals Vitamin C Hydrating Cleansing Milk

Again best reviews in Amazon, by far... I really like Amazon.com as you can see wink.gif

Lidocaine cream as as a topical anaesthetic for some serious rolling...

This is just some ideas, but I would love to hear what other people think.

Best videos I found for derma - rolling, how to do it, and how it works, is in dermaroller-planet.

I do not know if I can post a link, but you can google, derma roller planet videos.

I just use a C serum at 15-20% at 2.8-3.5ph. Supplements I use are vitamin c, msm, grape seed extract, omega 3.

In a nut shell, is dermarolling working for you guys? yes or no?

Abslutely.

I read somewhere that fish oils (0mega3) should be avoided before an operation/cosmetic procedures as it an anti-coagulant or makes you bleed a lot and hard to scab or heal.

I don't know what is going on with me. I have had tiny to almost unnoticeable improvement with dermaroller. I had my fourth session at Dr Chu's about a month ago and my skin looks the same. The texture is much better but my scars are still the same.
I use LEDs, use sunscreen, vit c cream, take vit c.

I really think im stuck with scarring forever. Im going to try and get the pictures Dr Chu took last may and compare them, coz it may just be me but im sure there is no improvement.
People using LEDs, do you use them EVERY day without fail?

Is there anything i should add to my regimen?
