sebaceous cyst on the nose- PLEASE, ANYONE

For about 8-10 months i had a pimple on my nose, that was pretty strange... it wasn't like a typical pimple. (i have a lot of blackheads on my nose)
It always grew, went red, and got small again and disappered. Than all the shit restarted and i was pretty depressed.
However, for abou 6-8 months now, all i have left is a small hump on the nose, which is VERY annoying, as it's visible and i have a big nose anyway. sometimes it's small and a bit visible, but most of the time it's bigger and annoys me a lot.
I went to the derm and she wasn't sure but thought it is a sebaceous cyst and can just be removed with surgery, and it would leave a big scar. Of course, that scared the shit out of me!
However, I'm not willing to give up. Has anyone got experience with it? I mean, there must be a way to help me on this... Past year has really sucked for me, and now i want to do a little "restart" for my life, and removing this cyst would be the first step for me!
here's a little pic (it looks small on here, but it's bigger than it looks here, sry for the bad quality).

Can anyone help me out? PLEASE. Anyone have experiences about this? Never really had bad acne problems.

Go to the Scars section, do a search for sebaceous or go through some of the pages and I am sure you will find something.
By the way, my back is covered with these and they are much bigger than the one in your picture. Chill

The above is the search results for "sebaceous cyst." I'd do some reading there for more information.
If your derm did not give you a definitive diagnosis, you could go to another dermatologist for a diagnosis/second opinion. If you want surgery your best bet is a PLASTIC surgeon, particularly a FACIAL plastic surgeon/dermatologist (excellent combo) as they regularly perform surgical procedures on the face. Given a choice between a plastic surgeon and a derm for what is basically a cosmetic procedure as it's on the face, I'd pick the plastic surgeon as they have considerably more knife/suturing time than a derm who sees so many different types of skin diseases.

Because I hate cysts, and I know you're probably not used to getting them and it is truly upsetting to you, I'll give you some advice.
First of all, is it red? Is it tender/painful when you touch or press lightly on it? If so, take an ice cube and wrap it in a towel and hold it on your cyst for about 10 mins on and off, and repeat this as many times as you'd like. It will reduce both the redness and the swelling. Try to dry it up by applying a bit of rubbing alcohol on a qtip and dabbing it on your cyst twice a day or as desired. I ALWAYS use both of those methods, and it doesn't cure a cyst overnight, but it does speed up the healing process.
I hope this helps, and don't worry! I bet that you notice your zit the most out of anyone. Good luck!

+1 your cyst doesn't look bad at all. Really if that is affecting your social life you would have committed suicide if you had the acne of a lot of the members here. Just take it easy, maybe ice it sometimes or find a good spot treatment and wait it out.

If you go that route, be very gentle in the morning, soak it with water, don't even rub.
You could always ice it but again sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt.
So far the worst thing I have done for a cyst like this (I have had one that size on my nose for about 2 years now, it comes and goes) is putting hot water on it.
And of course, do NOT pick at it, unless you see a very very obvious whitehead then sterilize, poke the head with a needle, and pop it out over a few hours. But don't do this unless you see a defined whitehead.

then it's been around nearly 2 yrs mind you, and then i started to get more. i now have about 20 of them, and idk how to stop them or get rid of them. if they are all too small to cut out, then what do i do? just go on getting disfigured by whatever the BEEP this is happening to me?
bad enough when it was one, then two, but a face full and growing, is more then i can handle. my nose, cheeks, are ruined, and oh i just look lovely in my heavy makeup used to concela other things, now (NOT).
any way to stop them from growing, and popping up all the time? any way to heal the other ones? i got so frustrated and i've refrained from picking anything my whole life, on my face, and i picked at one, and now it's widened, and been beet red for days now. ugh, made it look WORSE.
how does one treat these, if surgery is not an option? ways to prevent more? i feel like i'll be a side show freak soon. i'm full of super large pores, and if that couldnt get worse, i didn;t think so, these bumps on top of it. my sanity is shaken here. anyone?
i'm gonna try a heating pad today. i have a blue and red light, but that aint helpin w/ anything.
