I felt I wanted to help someone and if not you on this board then someone else who might read this because I know how you feel acne is very tough to deal with, i'd cry and pray for some permanent cure. I tried everything you have; panoxyl, tetracycline, neutrogena, clearasil.......everything in the book. A friend of mine referred to me to Ortho Tricyclen because it worked for them and I tried it and believe me it works.

If you are able to take those birth control pills I would recommend it just ask your gynaecologist to prescribe it. I have been taking it for years and I had facial and body acne and it all cleared up. I am not kidding and I hope I don't sound like I market that pill or work with that company because I don't. My spirit led me here tonight to help anyone who'd read it and who can take the pills because I know some people have medical issues and cannot take them.

But to summarize if you have insurance to decrease the cost and you're healthy to take them BELIEVE ME you will not regret it. Just see the prescription as a monthly bill like your cellphone. Acne would make me feel so low at times like everyone was looking at my bumps and everyone would ask what's wrong with my skin but after the pill worked I gained so much confidence you have no idea and everyone commented on how great my skin looked. Well merry christmas to all of you (hope I brought you a gift or possibly someone else) take care. I know what it feels like to not want to have on the bright light to see the imperfections, I know what its like to want to wear tank tops and can't because of embarrassment, I know what it's like for everyone to say "what are you using on your face or what are you eating" (even strangers asking). I know what its like to cry and feel depressed over acne and so I wanted to help someone feel better because I've been there and it was a rough time.

PS. In one of my posts I was advising guys to possibly take Retin-A micro as that worked also but dried out my skin somewhat and it had to be used continuously as well but give it a try, see what happens. The results you know with acne meds depends on how your skin reacts (your particular skin type).

i have to agree with you...

this is the birth control that worked best for me...

i was on it for a few years and it really helped my face.

if you can, it's best to get this brand. not a generic.

Hi Cupcake,

It's not just you. Ortho Tri-Cyclen has a great reputation for helping acne, but like ALL oral contraceptives and their side effects, it is hit-or-miss. For me, it turned my moderate acne into severe cystic acne that didn't go away (despite trying about 5 other OC's) until I took Accutane. I'm not trying to scare you, but it's not just you. I only lasted 3 months, it was truly awful. Oral contraceptives work differently for everyone!
