well my 5th shower in 3 days my results are 80% improvement. Flat healing none are raised redness fading. This is looking good for me. Over half are reduced in size and healing nicely.
Today I scrubbed my body with murad aha/beta hyroxy acid exfoliating cleanser with the bath brush rinsed. Dried with a towel got back in the shower applied the walgreens brand everyday clean because it seemed to eliminate the itch more than the nizoral did. waited 5 minutes turned the water on scrubbed with the bath brush and rinsed. Skin is a tiny bit dry on the follicle blemish but drying and clearing up nicely. theraplex on problem skin. cetaphil cream on normal skin to moisturize.
10 blemishes on my face couple all less than a 1/4 inch 3 days ago are now dried and pinhead size very close to skin color now. used same method murad then walgreens on my face as body. theraplex lotion on face. I used a loofah on my face the little round facial loofah. no makeup today.
I use the tigi bedhead biggie fixx it stick to cover blemishes- Contains salicylic acid to help heal blemishes. sea breeze later tonight before bed and theraplex again.
Wondering how soon i will break out again hopefully method this will help control my skin.

Hi necro and willow
remember always seek a specialists advice before following advice
)
thought I would share my thoughts to see if I could help some of you guys...
I used to be a full time fitness isntructor and personal trainer and still do some occasionally, however I now work in the office but work out 4-5 times a week, I had PF for a while but now get Staph Foliculitis. It lays dormant in my body and when my immune system is low it flares up.
Necro, its def the same type of postules like you have.... my breakout over my chest and shoulders looks the same... how ever mine attacks my chest (sometimes so bad you can't see sking just postules, boils, or infected points), shoulders, upper back, and more severely it also hits my neck and face. It is no way like acne... since I doubt acne would swell up and cause you to black out which mine occasionaly do (and have resulted in doctor call outs)....when the make my forehead, neck and skin around my eyes look terrible.
And if that looks bad then the points / heads are nothing to the boils that can develop underneath.
I have an emergency supply of strong antibiotics which I have to take for 60 days if it develops into boils. I saw the specialists, and after swabs were taken staph was confirmed.
Typical breeding grounds include your lower nose and your butt, I was prescribed bactroban nasal gel for my nose... this strong gel applied to the nose is easy to apply but can burn slightly after applied and also make your nose run for a little after wards, which helped tremendously to reduce re infection.
I cant emphasise enough on washing your bed sheets and pillow slips daily to reduce infection and out break periods. Preferrably washing products with less chemicals and heavy detergents is recommended.
I can also advise that bathing and sweating in the sauna after training or before can make the condition worse so wouldnt recommend that either.
Sun bed sessions helped for me, but I only a 1x9 minute session once a week, for approx a 10 week block over the year. It helped the drying process and exfoliating. It was also recommended by my specialist at the time too.
Though dont over do it, and remember we all are different so check with your specialist first
I also wear loose clothing most of the time now, though I did beforehand too -- only time I wear fitted clothes is when i dress clean and smart on nights out or dating with my GF
I always try to take a clean vest or tee shirt to change in to after working out then shower at home, since you could have got the initial PF or Sf at the gym and they are highly contagious and you dont wanna pass them on either.
Never share towels either, and use your towel only.
I also had to alter some of my supplements, as certain dairy supplements can make the PF and SF worse, as can stress, hot humid conditions and dehydration.
I decided to write this coz after being PF and SF free for 13 months its now hit me again, I get it so bad that in my last job here in the uk they recognised it as a disability under the DDA, I suffer it severely about twice each year, for approximately 2-3 weeks a time. My last employer sent me home when it was at its peak, and tried to sack me due to the condition. I was tested for shingles and diabetes, as both run in the family, and can be a pre disposing factor.
My last visit to the derm specialist proved very rewarding after I was instructed to strip naked and a high powered lamp was moved over my body, the Doctor then went on to identify where the SF was lying dormant in my body under my skin and this could be seen with the high powered light. This was identified by deep red patches under my upper skin. The infection appears to lay dormant over my chest and face mainly but can spread when it is triggered and reaches a peak.
Hope some of this helps, I will post more info later if I can find my pre med forms...
Good luck to you all....

Yeah I don't have that stuff anymore. I changed my diet. I also clean my bed sheets more often. I also use a back scrubber in the shower now.
Also, I quit tanning for good earlier this year. From now on I'm going to be like Michael Jackson and carry an umbrella when I go to the beach. Tanning or being in the sun made my skin dry out and look old. Now I'm pale and clear.

Just curious. How is your treatment coming along? I too suffer from PF and for years now.
Also, I noticed you used a lot of products that caused severe dryness (mainly Nizoral...that stuff murders my face) so my question is, for people that have PF, what is the best type of moisturizer? I know that the stuff thrives on the skin's oil but...I don't want to have premature aging skin either. I'd rather not purchase a lotion without asking the org first :>

Update:
Everything is clear. I got a couple of marks on my left shoulder, but the rest of my shoulders and back is 100% clear. It has been clear for some time.

Hey Necromancer,
I have the same nightmare!! Glad to hear your on the mend mate. You fought the good fight by the sounds of things. If you could go back in time can you give a quick overhall of what you found to be most effective? and what you might advise? its a cruel adversary, just when you think your beating it, it sucker punches you in the face or.. well in my case, upper back!

quick questions:
if you pop a pimple, and normal white stuff comes out, does that rule out PF?
does PF leave behind hyperpigmentation? what is the size of PF? how can a rule out having PF in general?
thanks.

Well you can rule it IN when your face and everything from your head to your feet is clear except your back and shoulders. Also it doesn't look like acne. It looks like WWIII is taking place with fallen soldiers everywhere on the skin. But I'm planning on dropping a few atomic bombs aka BP to the EXTREME and going to end the war once and for all soon. PY ain't got s*** on me!
Try oil of oregano, it cleared my face in a week! Also coconut oil, grapefruit seed extract orally helps. You have to treat it from the inside as well as the outside.

It was a combination of lots of things I think:
-not showering right after gym
-the diet I was eating that caused me not only to have this crap on my back for have me smell awful (from friend's compliments... i mean insults lol)
-gym work that involved heavy presses on shoulders (i rarely use machines that have pads on the shoulders; i do only free weight squats now)
-sun and indoor tanning in moderation helped
-dirty shirts (i threw a lot of old t-shirts away; saving money to have this stuff on my back is ridiculously dumb lol)
-changing bedding more often (i wash pillows and sheets a lot more often)
-drinking lots of water
What I also noticed is that I would sweat at work and the shirts I was wearing were not helping at all. I was say to keep attacking it. I tried nizoral at one point but I am still using Neutrogena body wash daily still. I only use bar soap on vacations. I also use a fresh loofa and replace it every few months.
My back has no active PF anymore. The scarring went away everywhere except for a small section of my left shoulder. I just created a scarring thread in the Scar section.
I beat PF
I beat cancer
I shall beat hypertrophic scarring!!!!
