How I'm Curing My Pityrosporum Folliculitis

Background:
For the last few months (mostly the last 2 months), my upper back and shoulder areas have been just getting destroyed. So I was doing research and trying to figure out what was going on. I am also a bodybuilder and recently I have been getting lazy with maintaining my skin. The weather is also crappy here and my skin has become dry. So with combined sweat, clogged pores, bad weather, I naturally thought it was acne.
However, I have 0 acne on my face and have had 0 acne for a long time since I developed my Extreme Acne Free Regimen (see other thread) years ago. Originally I thought I just got acne and it was assumed it was a given since I am a bodybuilder and my upper back gets rubbed a lot when doing bench pressing and other lifts.
Recently though, I have been looking up stuff on here and other places and my symptoms match not acne but Pityrosporum Folliculitis. I was pissed. I basically was a host of yeast and other nasty crap growing on my skin. It had now spread to the back of my neck and was making a u-turn to the front of my neck. My upper arms were also getting attacked. Even my Extreme Acne Regimen couldn't fight it much longer.
Problem/Solution:
So with Christmas coming up and this is more or less real-time status, last weekend, I went out and purchased Nizoral shampoo. I also did a diet cleanse and have eliminated all drinks but water and milk and have been going through 3.5 lbs of fish every few days along with Filet Migeon about 1lbs a day. I have also been eating primarly green beans for vegetables and bananas for fruits. Also I started back up with yogurt. Eating the fish has been a nightmare but necessary.
I also have been taking lots of zinc supplements as they aid in both muscle and skin repair. I also have been tanning my back every 3 days for about 2 weeks too.
As for Nizoral, I apply it in the shower with my bare hands (no sponge of any kind) and rub it deep on my scalp, forehead, neck, shoulders, and upper back. I let that stuff stay on my skin for as long as I can take 4-5 minutes. Then I wash it off. My skin has been peeling from this and tanning but the Pityrosporum Folliculitis has been getting destroyed. It has now been 4 days since using Nizoral and I can say that all active Pityrosporum Folliculitis has been terminated.
My neck area which was most important since it is exposed is now about 80% healed. Nizoral is simply unbelievable and necessary for those who even think they might have this nasty skin disorder.
Summary:
-I changed diet by eating lots of fish and green beans.
-I tanned my back 2x a week.
-I purchased Nizoral and leave it sit for 4-5 minutes daily in the shower.
-The Pityrosporum Folliculitis has been nearly destroyed after just 4 days.

I liked your summary at the end for people who can't be bothered to read the entire report. Rather nice and thoughtful, hehe
Have you ever been prescribed antibiotics for acne by a derm? Or been on oral steroid medications etc? (Not muscle steroids but the NSAIDS) I was on oral antibiotics for years before I personally discovered all the internal damage they can do-pityosporum folliculitis being the tip of the iceberg.
I've had similar problems for a decade (candida) and now my dog was recently diagnosed with malasezzia (pityosporum folliculitis) and the only thing that cleared her up was oral medications. The vet thought we were going to have to amputate her tail. Thank God she's OK now.
So many opportunistic fungi floating around thanks to modern medicine's protocol of handing out antibiotics for every single cold and flu and pimple. Ridiculous. They kill all the good bacteria while leaving us open to a whole new host of yeast-related maladies, many of which are brushed off by current researchers and current practicing physicians.
I hope you experience continued improvement, Mike

Thanks. Yeah my upper back has taken a complete 180. Nizoral can't be beat. It sucks eating all the fish though. My mouth is sore from it. I never have been to a derm. From the experiences on here I'm glad. I pretty much solve most things on my own and try to avoid doctors hehe. I knew there was something weird how my face was 100% clear but my back was going through WWII in Normandy. I pretty had every symptom of Pityrosporum Folliculitis.
A lot of it was my fault because I would go to the gym, sweat, and then go back eat and fall asleep and take a shower in the morning. The Pityrosporum Folliculitis must of had a field day. Now I am taking control.

I can't stand some fish because the taste is so pungent, it doesn't matter how you cook it or what kind of sauce is used-salmon and trout being a couple that come to mind. Yechhhhhhh.
Yeah, working out followed by a long period without showering is a recipe for skin disaster.
You cleared up your own skin and managed to avoid derms at the same time-I'd say you're way ahead of the pack (in more ways than one
cheers!

I only eat tilapia. I go to Costco and buy 3-4lbs packs and go through that in about 4 days. Sometimes I eat it twice a day. I just put sea salt and pepper on it. I feel like a shark hehe. I drop it on the Foreman grill and cook for like 5 minutes and eat.
Yeah showering is good. I must of been dumb to think I could sleep in my sweat and nothing bad would happen. I just showered tonight and my back is like an 85%. Last weekend it was like 20% - completely broken out in nasty redness and rashes and bumps. Nizoral is #1!

I am guessing this is a reference to how stubborn PF can be. For many people who have tried treatments for this, they have found that treatments like Nizoral, propylene glycol, oral antifungals work great - however the results usually don't last. The fungus tends to adapt to the product you are using and it just comes back again. I had a similar experience with Nizoral. It cleared the PF fast, but the fungus came back after a couple of months. By then, the Nizoral was no longer effective at getting rid of it.
I have found that regularly rotating topical treatments, cleansers, and oral antifungal supplements has worked the best for me. If you use more than one treatment at a time and rotate them every few weeks, it prevents the fungus from adapting to the treatment. I also reduced sugar, alcohol, and breads in my diet. That helped too.

Well if the stuff comes back on Nizoral, Tilapia, Beef, Milk, Green Beans, Water while taking Zinc and multi, while also tanning 2x a week, I will buy everyone on this site DKR regimen. That is how confident I am that I will assasinate this POS once and for all!
Necro don't play no games when it comes to acne or any other skin issue. I'm 25 and puberty left long ago!

What oral antifungals have you been on ?

I was on Diflucan twice - I don't recall the dosage. I took one pill a week for 6 wks. Then I was on one of the "conazole" meds (not ketoconazole - but something similar). I think I was on it for about a month - it didn't do much for me.
I have had better luck with oral supplements, diet changes and topicals like mandelic and salicylic acid.
Oral supplements I like are caprylic acid (or coconut oil), a supplement that contains undecylenic acid, neem, and grapefruit seed oil, oil of oregano, and olive leaf.

My right shoulder/back is about 90% clear with no active stuff.
My left shoulder/back is about 75% clear with a couple left of active stuff that is most likely actual bacne from lifting weights and stuff.
Bought 2.5lbs of steak and 3.5lbs of tilapia this weekend and plan to go through that by Wednesday. Also I am doing a 3 day sprint on tanning: Sat-Mon-Wed. This will get my skin to the best texture possible by Christmas day.
Been drinking water non-stop. I woke up at 5am today and have been eating every 2 hours.
1: Steam dumplings, water
2: Protein Shake (Casein)
3: 2 egg/sausage/cheese biscuits
4: 1 lbs of tilapia/spinach
5: 8 oz of filet migneon/baked potato
Also had yogurt.
Will probably have 3 more meals after I hit the gym and go to sleep. Pityrosporum Folliculitis ain't got s*** on me.

Last night I flipped the script and used H&S w/ Conditioner shampoo all over my skin instead of Nizoral. The Pityrosporum Folliculitis had no idea of what hit it. It was just getting used to the Nizoral too awwwww. Well I destroyed it again with another crucial blow and I let the shampoo sit on the skin for about 5 minutes before washing off. I've been applying nothing after shower on the skin and just letting it heal up.
Yesterday I wound up eating almost 8 meals. I easily took in over 4000 calories and at least 50 mg of Zinc. This morning my back is looking clearer. No new activity in almost a week. Nizoral and H&S can't be beat.
For breakfast today I had 8 oz of Filet Migeon and 1 can of spinach. I feel like god damn Popeye on crack but my back is back!

if you pop a pimple, and normal white stuff comes out, does that rule out PF?
does PF leave behind hyperpigmentation? what is the size of PF? how can a rule out having PF in general?
thanks.
Well you can rule it IN when your face and everything from your head to your feet is clear except your back and shoulders. Also it doesn't look like acne. It looks like WWIII is taking place with fallen soldiers everywhere on the skin. But I'm planning on dropping a few atomic bombs aka BP to the EXTREME and going to end the war once and for all soon. PY ain't got s*** on me!

Well I'm now going all out on the body acne/PY. Face is supremely clear and if you didn't know about my back, you'd think my skin is flawless like a Mortal Kombat victory. But in reality, there is a warzone on my shoulders.
As of now the following are being used:
-Zinc (heavy amounts)
-Nizoral
-Neutrogena Body Wash
-Neutrogena BP
Basically I'm frying the skin off my body. It is drying up all the crap there and it is slowly coming off. The retreat has gone from the front deltoids to the rear deltoids and some near the top center of the back. My neck is clearing away as well. It seems like they think they can hide. I have also purposely lost some body mass and muscle so I can reach behing my back to attack their army.
I haven't tanned in about 2 weeks. I plan to continue destroying them. I have also drank nothing but water and alcohol for about a month.
Wish me luck!
