Has anyone tried thermage/thermacool for acne scarring(rolling type)? if so did it help??? I may be doing a study on this treatment and would like to know if it has helped anyone. I will let everyone know what kind of results I get when I do this study at the begining of May...

I did Thermage last July. It was not even approved for acne then, but my Dr. heard that it could help with the actual acne. I only had one treatment done. He said it would help shrink the oil glands. Well, I am not really sure if it helped. I am still on Tazorac, and I think if I stopped, I would still break out. Heck, I am still breaking out anyway! ](*,) However, I think you need to have at least two done, that is what I read. Unfortunately, I can't afford another one (the first one was done at half price, the next one would be full price $1,400) so I can't do it. As for the scars, it is suppose to "temporarily" tighten the skin like a face lift would. But they don't have real good data on for how long b/c it is so new. It is also suppose to help with collagen formation. I really didn't see an improvement. You are suppose to see a difference 3 months post thermage. If there was, it was very minimal. Good Luck! Let me know how it goes for you!Oh, and make sure they numb your face...it hurts like a bitch if they don't!

Hi,
Where did you get the thermage done? 1400 sounds like a good price. Was that for full face? I have been quoted that for just a small area. Thanks for the info.

After reading the post by sickofthis I think you should consider keeping the $1.400 in your pocket, or consider another treatment. Would that make sense? James

Hi, i had thermage done in August and then again in Dec so i have had two treatments so far. It has helped with my scarring but hasnt eliminated it yet. Lucky for me my derm is the nicest guy in the world and he gives me treatments on my scars for only $150 dollars, super NICE GUY my derm is. He has also given me a free TCA peel (anyway, ill quit bragging about my derm) and get back on subject. My scars were very deep to begin with and have had two treatments so far and has tightened them up but it will definetly take about two more treatments to give me a smooth face. So if you have deep scars figure about 4 hard Thermage treatments. When i say hard i mean you have to get hit HARD by the machine. My doc hammers my chin scars at 16 joules and my temple at 18 joules. It hurts like a mother but it gives your collagen an insane "workout". It feels like the heat is litterally grabbing ahold of your collagen and STRANGLING it. Thermage can and will eliminate your scars if you have it done enough times, think 4, but it would be very costly for someone who doesnt have a derm like mine. I have posted about thermage before but no one seems to care.

KIm...yes, that is for full face. But that was when it was still not FDA approved for scars and acne, it may have gone up now. My Derm gives me a little break too.
