Hi, I tried using spironolactone since I saw so many good reviews about it on the internet. I upped my take from 50 mg a day to 125 mg a day after several weeks because I still didn't see any difference in my oily skin. After a while, I started noticing red spots on my skin but continued taking the amount anyway because I read that taking anything below 75 mg a day won't do much and that some people take up to 200 mg a day. Plus, I was getting frustrated that my skin was not improving. Well, let's say the patchiness got A LOT worse to the point where my face looked sunburnt and really irritated. I mean, even when I put on lotion my skin felt like it was burning. So reluctantly, after the 3 month mark, I stopped. I was really busy at the time and also going to the gyno, so I wasn't able to check back with the derm about what I should do (now that I search online I guess I had clearly overdosed over and over, idiot that I am). When I told the gyno I'd stopped taking spironolactone, she finally prescribed me yasmin, but my skin was inflamed two days later because yasmin has some spiro in it. So I stopped that and requested orthotricyclen lo since I didn't have problems with it in the past. Yet again my face started getting the patchiness.

My face isn't as burnt as it was when I was taking spiro and the birth control pills but let's say it doesn't look as smooth in complexion as it did before I took spiro. You can still see a slight patchiness where the spiro was burning my skin up. Anyway I really regret it. And I can't go to the doctor because I don't have health insurance anymore and need to wait.

Does ANYONE know what I should do or have any idea how long it'll be before my skin returns or if my skin CAN return to its state that iwas before I tried spiro? If someones going to the derm, can u just ask for me (just briefly tell the doc the scenario and ask him what he thinks).

I'd REALLy appreciate it. Any comments/ideas/suggestions/research/experience would be great. THanks!
