IMHO, microdermabrasion's a rip off. It's not a miracle thing like it sounds. Don't expect too much from it.

I'm having it done with an aesthetician. Of course, there's economic reasons why they'd want you to do more sessions.

But, since I've started them, I've noticed my acne getting worse! I was using a vitamin A ointment before and I stopped on the advice of the aesthetician. Big mistake -- I started feeling all these little bumps underneath and now they're all surfacing (and some are doozies).

I just had a micro session done today. Last week, I snuck in 3 days of using the Vitamin A ointment again for 3 to 4 hours (and then washing it off) and having the micro done. It seems to remove the red marks a little faster.

I had some very minor ice pick pits and the micro's made them marginally shallower. Nothing impressive, though, considering what I'm paying for the micros.

But now she's recommending this Clear laser (which is much more expensive than the micros). The place I'm going to seems to be really gung-ho in promoting their laser services.

I'm almost thinking that she's doing something that's CAUSING the acne (perhaps in order to maintain the business relationship). I dunno. I asked her why I suddenly have all this acne (I had it all cleared up with the Vitamin A and was using it steadily but I was doing the micro to remove some of the small ice pick dents). She said that it's "to be expected because it's such a stimulating treatment".

I'm going to stop listening to her, I think and just finish the round of micros and stop doing business with this place. The place is too plastered with this Clear laser treatment marketing material for me to think there's no motive for them to muck up my skin.

Has anyone else experienced more breakouts from the "stimulating" micros?

Your first Red Flag should be when an Aesthetician and NOT a Doctor suggest a Laser Procedure.

Anything as serious as Laser should only ever be recommended by a Doctor. How the heck is an Aesthetician qualified to suggest that.

From what you have mentioned about your Aesthetician; I would terminate the relationship with them as asap.
