Hi everyone,
Would anyone be kind enough to give me your experience on Ocella (the generic kind of Yasmin)? If anyone reading this has been on it and wouldn't mind sharing it, that would be helpful. I am just starting it and am worried about it because I've heard all these bad things about it. I know everyone is DIFFERENT. But just some general stuff would be nice.

Take care,
Jen

I have experienced no changes since I switched from regular Yasmin to the generic Ocella. But I did take a 1 month break from the pill before switching. I read so many horror stories about Ocella online, but I haven't experienced anything at all. I think that if you did well on Yasmin, you should be fine on Ocella depending on your body.

Hello,
I was on Yasmin for about 7 years before I was switched to Ocella this summer (supposedly to reduce my prescription cost, but the difference wasn't all that much because of my insurance plan...but that's another story). I was on Ocella for about 4 months before I switched back to Yasmin. The only side effect I experienced was the worst acne I have ever had. I've been back on Yasmin for a little over a month and within a week I could already tell a difference. The acne/breakouts are almost all gone now.

Hope that helps.

I've never been on ocella, but I have been on yasmin and I'm assuming they're quite similar. For the year that I was on yasmin it drastically improved my acne and reduced oil. However, I would never recommend this drug because I experienced some pretty serious side effects (constipation and fatigue) and had to be hospitalized for them. Everyone reacts differently though, and I have some friends that are on yasmin and love it. So I would say that you can't really base how well it will work for you off of other people's experiences. Good luck smile.gif

I was on ocella for 2 1/2 months and experienced an increase/aggravating of my acne and increase facial hair (gross!). I switched this month to ortho tri cyclen. in my opinion ocella is cheap crap! my derm even told me about it's bad reviews. unfortunatley i didnt take this into consideration i just got it from the student health clinic. i would advise against it. just google reviews of ocella and you will read the same! ocella sucks!!

I've been taking ocella (with minocycline + differin gel + bp) for a little over a month now and I don't have any problems with it. I have infinitely less active acne with this combination. It also doesn't make me feel as sick as I felt when I started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen 7-8 years ago. (I wished I'd never stopped taking it, but that's another story).

Hello:0
I recently had a baby and am now going back on birth control. To my surprise when I asked for Yasmin prescription from my Gynec. she told me that they had no samples to give me due to a generic that had recently come out called Ocella. Well to make a long story short I figured it would be just like Yasmin....not even close. I was on Yasmin for years and LOVED it. The 1st month on Ocella I developed these horrible "bumps" if you will, under my skin in the chin area...I wouldn't really call it acne per say because they never came to a head but were very tender and inflammed. I contacted the doctor on the 2nd month and told her what was happening and she recommend I stop taking it since I may have an allergic reaction. Now I am off of them and all screwed up getting my period like every other week....SO..NO I do not recommed it to anyone....

did my research on ocella and yasmin ingredients....maybe the root to the aggravating acne that it is causing...since we all know that generics contain fillers...

here's what i found both pills have the same exact ingredients including inactive ingredients:

check out these two websites:

ocella
http://drugtopics.modernmedicine.com/drugt...711/article.pdf

yasmine
http://berlex.bayerhealthcare.com/html/pro...=www.berlex.com

read the active and inactive ingredients, they are both the same. so for those who are scared to try ocella because its generic, please dont be afraid, its worth a try. they both have the same ingredients, and if ocella has fillers, then so does yasmin.

im going to try ocella next month, good luck to all that is also switching and im sorry to those who had a bad reaction to it, i hope i dont get a bad reaction.

peace and love
