what evidence is there that pantethine is more effective?

tim

It's what B5 breaks down into and what in turn produces the large amounts of Coenzyme A.
By taking pantethine, you bypass the pantethonic acid to pantethine conversion, and not as much has the chance to be destroyed by free radicals on the way.

I still think this is unsafe though.

So, how would a person who has never tried b5 before pantothine go about starting the panothine?(coenzyme A)

Well I suppose now's as good a time as any to brave the transmission from D-calcium Pantothenate to Pantethine, since Acne Miracle's disappearing act has left me Vitacure as my only other viable option for the powder--and Vitacure does absolutely nothing. My only concern is whether I should taper off of the B5 and start off slow with the Pantethine or just dump the powder and start taking 450-900 mg/day of Pantethine.

Suggestions?

Do any of you guys know if tis safe to mega dose on b5 and drink? Or more importantly to me, to drink alcoholic beverages to the point of intoxication (.1 and higher i guess) while taking 1200mg of pantethine/b-complex 100 and cod liver oil?

I was ok on it, its not as bad as accutane as its not fat soluble and doesnt get stored in the liver. As with everything though, there can be interactions, so take it easy first few times (even always), and see how you go. Be wary of dehydration as well and drink plenty of water.

I too wanted to know of the results of people that have used pantethine and to see if it is better or even useful compared to pantothenic acid for acne.

i used pantothenic acid. I have never heard of pantethine...?

pantothenic worked great. i took it the pill once a day for a while. So long that my body it seemed to NEED it. Then when I didn't take it as often I felt pretty low and groggy. I had to literally ween myself off of it.

sad thing when I was taking it was that, I NEEDED to take it or my face would explode with pimples.
it was rough.

..just wanted to let ya'll know. Be careful with it.

yea, thats prolly ur body used to getting the B5 for nutritional uses ... cause i would take multivitamins for a long time and when i stopped i noticed a hunger for things i would never crave for .... But basiclly from wat ive seen in my family, acne starts to get really slow at around 25-26 thats how it seems for my bros. So I'm hopin i could preserve my SEXY (quated from ditty in proactiv add) for just 5 years or something then wean off and just use facial cleaners ... I dont really care about side effects to much either ..... but if ur taking 1 pill of B5 even 1 simple 300mg pill should be more effective of pantethine over 1 500-1000 mg pill of B5 .... I just hope dis isn't all BS and it really works cause i invested alot of time in learning dis stuff and money!!! Doin 900mg a day right now only on day 2 though WISH ME LUCK sideways.gif

guys,
I wish I had seen the info on pantethine before starting b5 powder 10 days ago. I have had moderate acne for 30 years... had 4 rounds of accutane. Currently on minocycline, tazorac, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. This minimized my acne to 2-3 small lesions at any time.
So far, the b5 is affecting my skin AS WELL AS accutane. My oil slick of a face is almost at normal sebum levels already. My nose isn't shiny after all day at work. I'm excited, because if I can back off the dosage after 3 months, it could be a maintenance drug!!! No more oily skin and zits!
I think I'll maintain the b5 and watch for posts from people who have switched over to the pantethine.
BTW: I am an inorganic chemist and medical researcher. This stuff is not without side effects (diarrhea-common, hair loss-rare). From what I've read, you need to take a multi-b vitamin while megadosing b5. Since it's water soluble (not fat soluble) the excess will be excreted from your body. Compared to accutane (stores in the liver) risks are minor.
Good luck!!!!

Vitamin World users, you probably already know this but, if you get their Passport Membership (it's free) you get Buy 1 Get 1 FREE on All VW Brand Items the first Monday & Tuesday of Every Month.

I have been eyeing the B5 but was unsure what to get, after reading this post I think I will go back the 1st of August and get the pantethine. My acne is pretty much gone on my regimen but the oilyness is still there.

K so I started taking Pantethine for my acne last month with a B-complex daily, was on 1200 MG's each day spread into 3 pills, usually around 5-6 hours apart, 450/450/300. after about 3 days i noticed my skin a hella lot less oily, but then it seem'd to slowly return at around day 5, i experince a pretty lame breakout after a few days that got a little worse up untill about 2 weeks, at about 2 weeks i started to see MINOR results i might be wrong .... anyways im a little over a month now and i have barely NO acne anymore, i didn't really notice at first but now that i look its al lred spots now theres NO acne, and my skin is looking fresher then FREAKING EVER. Pantethine owned all the little zits right away and then slowly *dried up* all other larger white heads. Now when i feel my face it feels smooth and im LOVING it, only continue'ing to get better too biggrin.gif im still getting 1 major pimple each week but thety get owned QUICK LOL so yea, IM A BELIEVER, PATETHINE = OWNAGE gonna post my next update sometime in a few more weeks biggrin.gif I hope it keeps working gonna alsp try some acv for my red spots see how that goes ... PEOPLE USE PANTETHINE FREAK B5

I am also trying this today B5 has worked so well on my face.....I never developed a cyst, well hardly any pimples for that matter. Only taking 3 pills a day is soooo MUCH BETTER than 20! I am so glad I found this thread.

Also, to the person who was concerned about drinking....I go out every weekend practically and havent had any problems. I just make sure to drink a full bottle of water before bed.

JENNA and BILLYBOB any updates?

I currently take B-5 (have been for the past 6 months or so). It has pretty much cleared me up, however I still get really oily. Also, it can get pretty expensive, due to the number of pills you have to take. So I'm thinking of switching over to pantethine.

For those that took B-5 prior to patnethine, do you notice any difference? Did panethine dry you up more as opposed to B-5???

Thanks in advance! smile.gif
